About Me

I am a certified music therapist (MT-BC), vocal instructor (BS in Classical Voice), certified yoga instructor (200+) and Reiki master. I am a professional freelance editor, working on a collection of nonfiction essays. I am a meditation guide. All of the subjects I teach through TakeLessons are related to one of the aforementioned areas. I am a person who finds joy in a variety of places, and I truly love what I do.

Music therapy has afforded me a great deal of experience working with children, teens, and adults with special needs including, autism, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances and developmental delays.

As a voice teacher, I want to help my students settle comfortably into their own musicality by showing them the building blocks of a solid technique, drawing particularly from the things that helped me grow as a vocalist. I want my students to feel strong in their body, comfortable and relaxed in their breath, and confident in their performance.

I have worked professionally as an editor of scholarly writing on both the college and post-college level, as well as a professional editor of multiple dissertations, and other publications. Being a creative person, I find language to be a wonderful way to express thoughts and emotions as well as communicate deeply with others.

As a certified yoga instructor, I teach in many locations throughout Westchester. I was trained at Yoga Haven in Scarsdale, New York with Betsy Kase, and earned a 200-hour certificate in Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation. I offer private yoga instruction and meditation at my home studio. My studio comes fully equipped with all yoga props, aromatherapy, and music. Hands-on-assists and personalized classes offered to deepen your experience.

About Me

Hi! My name is Annabel and I teach the practice of yoga, both the asana (physical practice) and the other seven limbs of yoga. To me yoga is a journey inward, a process of introspection that strengthens our physical bodies, our emotional bodies, and our minds. The practice supports a connection or union between the body, mind, and spirit. Yoga teaches us to accept the world as it is, without seeing anything as good or bad, painful or pleasant, and rather seeing each experience as an opportunity to heal and grow. I have been teaching for several years now and I am very passionate about my studies and my teachings. I am always studying and learning more about yoga as there is an abundant well of knowledge and wisdom. I love to teach and it is my intention to share what I have learned, the freedom, healing, passion, compassion, and expansion available to each and every one of us. Buddha said the world is suffering. If we take a moment to acknowledge our lives, they are made up of a mixture of joys and suffering. To learn how to accept these, learn from these, and grow from these helps us to access our deep, innate state of happiness and peace that is always available to us.

About Me

I am a doctoral student in clinical psychology residing in Brooklyn, NY. My skills listed here are quite varied as I have qualifications in several areas that might meet your current needs.

I have taught graduate and undergraduate psychology courses for four years, including statistics, personality assessment, introduction to psychology, and introduction to neuroscience. I also have a decade-long personal practice in vinyasa yoga ("power yoga"), and I am currently nearing the end of my 200 hour certification training in teaching yoga (training program ends 7/20/14). As part of the training process, students are encouraged to teach weekly to students of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Because I am in the process of certification, my rates are greatly reduced than what you will find offered by private yoga instructors anywhere else in the city.

I am also qualified as a psychotherapist with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. I have worked with a variety of patients, ranging from mentally ill inpatients in forensic psychiatric hospitals to undergraduate college students. Anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and personality disorders are commonly seen diagnoses in my patient population that I serve. In addition, my background and training in psychology offers an excellent platform to work with clients on motivational issues and organizing their lives to better achieve their goals in work, relationships, and overall wellness.

Please get in touch if any of the noted services appeal to you or meet your needs at this time. I look forward to working together!
