Gfire has been teaching and performing music full-time for over 17 years. Based in Austin, Texas, the "Live Music Capital of the World," she offers voice, piano, songwriting, yoga, folk guitar, and DJ'ing lessons to students from 5-105 and she specializes in sculpting her lessons to the strengths and desires of each individual student. Her students range from beginning to advanced levels, and they sing and play a multitude of musical styles, including classical, pop, rock, r 'n' b, country, folk, singer-songwriter, musical theater, blues and more.
Gfire loves to share her talents with her students. She prides herself on instilling a "sense of mastery" to each of her singing and piano students, no matter on which level they are. The students come away with a real sense of knowing their songs and their instruments inside out and with a real sense of confidence in their musicianship. Plus they have a lot of fun as they make musical progress!
Gfire is also an award-winning singer-songwriter and "Yoga for the Voice" innovator. She has released 4 CDs of all-original music and is currently working on her 5th CD, to be released in 2015.
As a teacher, Gfire works with students of all levels and all areas of interest. In October 2007, Gfire became the only vocal teacher in the Western Hemisphere to gain full certification in the Science of Singing, developed by Ernest G. White of London, England. Her unique voice training program, entitled "Yoga for the Voice," combines this knowledge of the Science of Singing with ancient yoga breathing techniques. This technique allows each voice student to develop a "vocal tune-up" for the voice AND to discover what the natural singing range is and how to use the voice as effectively as possible. With the internet SKYPE technology, Gfire teaches voice students all over the world, from Switzerland to the U.K. to New Zealand to New York.
Her vocal students have sung in touring rock bands, on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, in successful auditions, in karaoke clubs, in coffee houses and folk clubs, at weddings and for their own enjoyment amongst family and friends. Whatever level of singing training you wish to acquire, she will show you the way to achieve it!
Gfire was also the main voice instructor and one of 3 main piano teachers at the Austin branch of Mars Music (now defunct) for 3 1/2 years. In addition to her vocal study and innovation, she has studied piano with top classical and jazz pianists, studied songwriting with Pat Pattison of Berklee College in Boston, gotten her full yoga teaching certification in 2004 and DJ'd at clubs and parties worldwide. For eight years straight - 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 - she has won the prestigious ASCAPlus Award for professional songwriting.
As a singer-songwriter, Gfire continues to write, record and perform with some of the best musicians and engineers in the world, including engineer Stuart Sullivan (Willie Nelson, Sublime, Meat Puppets, etc.), Hammond organ player Ian McLagen (Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart), cellist John Hagen (Lyle Lovett), fiddle/mandolin player Warren Hood (The Waybacks), bassist George Reiff (Ray Wylie Hubbard) and banjo picker Danny Barnes (Bad Livers, Dave Matthews).
Gfire's original songs have been played on over 200 radio and television stations worldwide. She has toured in over half of the fifty states, plus the U.K. and Canada.

Voice lessons - I have created a unique and wonderful vocal method, "Yoga for the Voice," which combines ancient yoga breathing exercises with special vocal exercises to give you a "complete vocal tune-up." I believe that knowledge is power that leads to peace, prosperity and success in life. Anyone can learn anything in life. It all depends on the teacher, students and knowledge of the subject. My teaching philosophy centers on three key objectives:
First, I work with students and his/her level of awareness, interests to discover, how learning a subject can be made joy, fun and exciting. I help students with simple, easy practices to calm and focus his/her mind before to make learning effective.
Second, I work on myself and discover ways to present subject, lessons, and topics in ways that is most suitable to students.
Third, I work with subjects and present materials in way that can help students to learn, retain and evolve.
I firmly believe that a teacher should continue to evolve, find new ways of teaching to help his/her students to evolve and become a good person in life

I am a student of life. I have been learning, evolving and sharing the knowledge for the last 33 years. When I learnt from my master – ‘Knowledge is power that liberates’ more than 30 years ago, my passion of learning new things drives me to excel personally, professionally and socially. I studied physics, chemistry, math, English and Hindi in high school. When I was in college, doing Bachelors in Science, I got an opportunity to teach science and math in the same school where I completed my high school. I studied physics, chemistry, math, optional (Hindi and English) in Bachelor’s degree from Delhi University. I studied eastern philosophy/psychology/ yoga/ Tantra in an informal, master-disciple tradition from many masters. It gave me deep insight and understanding of mind, brain and consciousness. It evolved me to become a good teacher who not only teaches, but also educates and mentors. I completed Diploma in yoga philosophy and practice from an international center in 1983. It evolved me further to present subject materials leading to self-development. I completed Masters in Applied Physiology and Psychology.
Along with my work in deferral government as educator, teacher researcher for 26 years, I undertook wide variety of studies related to human development including Eastern Philosophy/Psychology, Spirituality, Hindi Literatures, History of Psychology, Religious Studies, and Philosophy of Science. In the job I designed, developed many courses/workshops/programs on stress management, effective learning, memory and retention, mindfulness/meditation, corporate wellness, Youth Empowerment, Alternative management of illnesses including asthma, ADD, behavioral modifications, and healthy aging.
I have taught people of all age groups in the last 33 years. Few of my accomplishments are:
• Lifestyle management and mental well-being program-Young prisoners (infected with HIV; and substance abuse problem) in Manipur prison, India, under United Nations Drug Prevention Program.
• Eastern/ Western Psychology/ Physiology for optimum mental well-being: medical doctors working for Ministry of Health, Mongolia under International Health Exchange Program.
• How to learn Science and Math: Easy, Simple and Effective approach – A workshop conducted for hundreds of students in Schools in India.
• Mindfulness Program for Inner peace and happiness: conducted workshop for doctors, professors of Columbia University.
My skills evolved to a new level by conducting workshops, seminars, presenting papers in conferences, private coaching, tutoring and mentoring students for more than 33 years. The teaching has become a joy of conscious living.
My conviction is that anyone can learn anything in state of inner calm and focus. I help students first to awaken to inner calm that facilitates easy learning and retention. I customize teaching steps depends on the level of student/s.
Evolve and help others to evolve by learning/teaching
Meditation, Reiki, Yoga
From the first moment I stepped onto my mat, I credit my personal transformation along my own yogic journey to the great teachers who guided me along the way on my quest to my healthiest, best self and I feel that it is my mission to continue the ancient tradition by sharing the gift of yoga with others to inspire the same growth, lightness and empowerment.
I found my authentic voice while completing the 200HR RYT training at CorePower Yoga. Being a natural artist, my classes are inspired by my fun, creative spirit taught from the inside out with focus on my students individual wants, needs and goals.
I enjoy guiding power flow, vinyasa flow, deep stretch, chakra flow, meditation, prenatal yoga, and healing with the love of reiki energy! My fascination of the energetic subtle body and universal connectedness I experiences in my daily life fuels my passion to contribute to the overall well-being of the world by inspiring happiness, positivity, peace and strength in myself and others on and off the mat.
