About Me

My journey in music began when I was around 5 years old and first heard the children's choir sing in church. My mother used to tell me that I would beg her to let me sing in the choir but she would always have to tell me I wasn't old enough. As soon as I was old enough, she enrolled me in church choir and I've been in it ever since.

I have performed with the Rochester symphony orchestra and chorale, Rochester community band, Rochester civic music, church choirs and orchestras, Lake of the Isles community band, and performed Handel's Messiah at Carnegie hall in New York City. I've done some acting and singing in musicals as well.

As I got older, I discovered playing the clarinet was fun but never gave up singing. I just did them both. After becoming proficient on clarinet, I explored flute, oboe, saxophone, piano and lastly, the celtic harp.

My philosophy on teaching is "you are never too old to experience the joy of making music on whatever instrument you choose and I will strive to help you discover your hidden musical talents".

During my 20+ years of teaching, I've had many students perform with local youth orchestras, receive superior ratings in high school music competitions, win concerto competitions, be excepted to perform with the Rochester Symphony Orchestra in their playing with the pros program and go on to college to major or minor in music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Music should be fun and not a chore so I like to really get to know my students and structure their lessons in a way so the student has fun but also feels like they have learned something new or plays or sings something better than they did when they arrived.

I expect a student to schedule time in his/her week to practice since my most successful students excel in their school bands and go on to perform with local youth orchestras and other ensembles. I will remind students that they will get back what they put into it.

Listed below is my expertise level on the instruments I feel comfortable teaching.

Flute: beginner to advanced (all ages)
Clarinet: beginner to advanced (all ages)
Oboe: beginner to intermediate (all ages)
Saxophone: beginner to advanced (all ages)
Piano: beginner only (children)
Singing: beginner to advanced (all ages)
Celtic harp: beginner to intermediate (all ages)
Music theory: beginner to advanced (all ages)
Reading: beginner to advanced (all ages)

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have music, piano, CD player, musical instruments and a music stand available at the studio.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I travel with my instruments and some music but not all. If there is a piece of music at my studio which the student is interested in looking at, I will make arrangements to bring it with me to your next lesson.

Students at home should have an instrument, a good music stand and a quiet area set aside for the lesson. Pets should be kept in an area other than where the lesson will be taught.

*** Specialties ***
Broadway, showtunes, classical, popular, jazz, religious styles

About Me

Teaching is a wonderful extension of my work as a professional crochet and knit designer and technical editor. A web search will reveal some of my published work over the last decade. As a craft teacher in the NYC area for over 6 years, I have worked with individuals, groups and classes of all ages and skill levels. Most of my experience focuses on working with older adults and people with special needs. Minors must have a supervising adult present. I do not work with groups of young children.

I have studied the history and mastered the skills to make and teach a vast variety of textile techniques. Please see my experience.

Private and group lessons or classes are provided in locations around the NYC area, in my space or via webcam. I charge by the hour, not by the person. You are welcome to share your lessons with others to divide the cost. My focus is on providing an entertaining, relaxing and enjoyable experience as you learn a leisure time activity. I am extremely patient and detail oriented. When you let me know what you would like to learn or make, I will guide you through everything from selecting materials to fine tuning your technique. Take a lesson with me to find out why my students love me.

For creative people and makers, crafting is like going to the gym. You will find great fulfillment and a sense of accomplishment if you set aside time on a regular basis to nurture this very important part of what makes you who you are. Think of me like a personal trainer. I will encourage and inspire you while you develop your skills and express yourself through a variety of physical media.

Brianna S. Los Angeles, CA

About Me

Hi, I'm Bri! I'm a graduate of North Central College with a BA in Music (Emphasis in Composition and Percussion) and a minor in History. I absolutely love music, every single aspect of it. I want and love to make music a part of everybody's lives who want and need it. I want to help you with your musical needs. I have been playing percussion for 15 years, singing for 20, and playing piano for 17 years. I am currently in a recording and performing band, Oblio and Arrow, and am also working on orchestrating a musical with a company.

History has always fascinated me. They way our world has developed and changed, and continues to evolve is amazing. Everything can be tied back to the past, and I feel it's important to take a look back, put yourself in that time, and really study how things were to help understand why things are the way they are now.

Crocheting and knitting are a couple of good habits/hobbies I picked up about 6 years ago. I sell scarves online and I'm always working on some sort of project. I will have you knitting and pearling with the best of them!

Music, history, crochet, and knitting....I'm your girl!

About Me

As a very artsy person, I teach an interesting set of skills and hobbies.

I teach dance in church, school, and recreational studio environments. I already have 2 private lesson students. My NY state certification in dance education for Pre-K through 12 students is in process, and I have a MA degree in this field.

I was an undergraduate Spanish minor, and since then, my love for it has not waned. I practice with native speakers, and I love Latin American dance as well. Lessons in Spanish reading, writing and speaking are bound to be a blast, and cultivate the student's appreciation for the language.

I have been crocheting for over 10 years now. But what I love most is creating my own patterns, for blankets, hats, scarves, and cowls. My work can be seen on Etsy as soon as winter begins to approach in NJ. (Stay tuned!)

After singing for 10 years, I teach expanding range, breathing, and basic vocal training. Pop, jazz, indie genres mostly.

About Me

I have been performing as a musician for two decades and acting since I was a small boy. I started my musical education as a woodwind player and settled in to the wonderful world of singing over time. Music has opened me up to so many opportunities like touring the world, performing in marvelous concert halls, and working with some of today's most revered artists, as well as giving me the opportunity to expand my acting craft through various plays, musicals, television, and film.

Performing has been my salvation. It has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might offer them the same. In this 10th year of teaching, I have new experiences to draw from and share with my students. Having spent my last 6 years performing with Disney and this past year touring Japan in their cast has given "performance" a new depth. I'm excited to dive back into lessons with fresh ideas that will mix well with my tried and tested teaching techniques.

Originally from Los Angeles, I now reside in Orange County and I'm especially proud to be expanding my studio to San Diego as well! I am so excited to share my experiences with the people of this beautiful and inspiring town!
