About Me

Paula W. is a graduate of Walnut Hill School for the Arts (Design and Production), Pomona College (Dance and Theatre Management), The New School University (Screenwriting and 3rd World Cinema), and the Alvin Ailey School Professional Division.
She has taught English, reading, writing, musical theater, dance, and playwriting to students ages 3-adult in the US, Asia, Europe, and South America. She has also served as an English teacher for various corporations, including KPMG and MultiChannel. She currently writes for several online publications under her own byline, and is also a freelance voice over director. When not writing or directing, she is the Artistic Director of The International Partner Dance Intensive (TIPDI), a summer dance intensive for adult dancers that takes place each August in New York City.

Paula moved to South Korea in early 2009 where she directed and choreographed productions of “Annie” and “Peter Pan”, wrote English-language advertising copy, textbooks, subtitles, and scripts for children’s theater, taught dance, theater, Visual Art, and English for ages 3-adult, as well as continuing to perform her own work at various festivals. While in Asia, she received a grant from the Seoul Film Commission and Ohzemidong for her short dance film, “SPLIT”, a collaborative work with Korean filmmaker, Ji-Sun O. After leaving South Korea, she lived in Argentina for nine months performing and studying, while also serving as head writer for “Clave al Ingles”, an ESL educational series for adults. She then traveled to London, where she wrote educational programming for Human Focus, a workplace safety media company. Finally, she traveled to Dubai, where she taught graduate students and PhD candidates how to use theater in the ESL classroom as part of the TESOL Arabia Conference 2012. She returned to the US full time in April of 2012.

About Me

While my resume is attached, I'd love to tell you a little about myself. My education is in Theater from both Boston University and The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. This includes extensive training in acting, directing, writing, Meisner, Alexander Technique, production, dance, and entertainment history. After moving to New York, I quickly learned that my passions lay more in teaching performing arts rather than performing myself.

Teaching and helping others find tap into their creativity is a long rooted passion of mine. It began in Middle and High School when I was asked to choreograph the musicals in my town. I loved the challenge of visualizing a performance piece and explaining it to others. Witnessing a young person finally succeed in being free with their creativity is an extraordinary feeling.

I am excited to learn exactly what you/your child is looking to achieve within the performing arts and steadily guide you both grasping it.

Thanks for your time!
