I have played violin for 15 years. I can teach you to read music notation, lead sheets. I am knowledgeable in music theory and can help you develop an understanding of tonality, rhythm, melody, and harmony that will help you make any type of music. I can help you apply concepts from theory to improve your songwriting and arrangement ideas. I also offer coaching in improvisation and solo construction for any instrument.

In addition to playing violin, I have spent the last 2 years as bandleader and songwriter for Jon. For this project I write and score for Voice, Violin, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Choir, and String Orchestra
I won a Directors award in the Paramount Song Fall 2010 Song and Lyric Writing Competition for my song: "The Burning Plain"

Mark holds a Master of Music from the University of Missouri. He teaches piano, voice, violin, and composition. His students range from pre-schoolers to adults and include all skill levels, from beginner to professional. Mark is a faculty member at the Community Music Center and Multnomah Arts Center where we directs the choirs. He is also an Associate Conductor with the Pacific Youth Choir where we directs the boys choir.
In addition to teaching, Mark is actively involved in Portland's classical music scene. He sings with the Portland Symphonic Choir, Oregon Symphony, and as the tenor soloist at the First United Methodist Church.

Sue L., violinist, pianist, composer, working musician and teacher, graduated from Portland State University in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in music. In 1996 she won two Medals of Distinction from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, London, England for violin performance and music theory. Also, in 2001 she received a Merit Award from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, London, England for viola performance. Sue has performed in musical pit orchestras, string quartets, the Vancouver Symphony, and rock, jazz and blue grass bands in the Vancouver, Portland Metro area. Sue plays all the stringed instruments and piano in various venues.
Sue brings 15 years of teaching experience in individual and group lessons using a variety of modern and traditional methods customized to the individual goals of each student.

I started taking Violin and Piano lessons at age 7. By the age of 12 I was performing recitals and was Concert Master of my elementary school orchestra. In high school I was first chair, and learned to conduct the orchestra. I attended Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield Missouri. I created my own string quartet while studying there. I studied Violin under Mr. Harold King, who was a good friend of Jascha Heifetz and was his roommate in Chicago where they studied music together. I have studied Violin and Piano with many other instructors, including Tony Bennet and Peggy Lee's recording pianist. I studied modern and jazz piano with Paul Horn's Jazz Group. I was vocal coach for 3 years for the Pasadena, California Ambassador choir.I have taught for approx. 50 years privately and in various colleges and schools.
