About Me

Hello!

My name is Michael B., a recent graduate of The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, currently looking to bring my choreographic vision to the United States. I have choreographed and performed internationally, being based in Liverpool, England for the last three years, performing professionally in the Isle of Man, and choreographing professionally with Angela Defou Productions in Manchester. In London, I have gone down to the final four for Chino in the West Side Story UK Tour, and have had several callbacks for The Lion King, both for the UK Tour and in the West End. In terms of choreographing theatre, I have choreographed and assistant directed shows in Liverpool and well as many community theatre productions in the South Shore area of Massachusetts. I am interested in choreographing for your company because I would like to bring all I've learned in the UK, and bring a little of their passion for theatre back to the states, I have so much passion for what I do and I am eager to get creative and work with amazing people!

I look forward to teaching you! I have teaching experience in ballet, modern, contemporary, commercial, and musical theatre!

Thank you so much for your consideration!
Michael B.

About Me

I work with students privately or in a group setting to improve performance and physical skills.

I've been trained as a personal trainer and well as in the techniques of Pilates, yoga, and myofascial release and have lengthy experience in theatre and dance. My private sessions are individually catered to the needs of my students. I will do an assessment of your physical needs and develop our sessions together based on your individual needs.

I've studied anatomy extensively and my movement teaching style is incredibly alignment-based. I create training programs that are engaging and interesting, truly working with your lifestyle and career.

I have an extensive teaching background of multiple styles and abilities. I've worked with professional athletes and dancers as well as people with severe physical injuries/disabilities. I come from a dance background and currently teach yoga and physical theatre techniques in the acting department at Emerson College, as well as Pilates at Upward Spiral Studios in Cambridge. I've also taught yoga at Art & Soul Yoga, and at various studios in New York City. I'm creative and I have a sense of humor. I think both of those things are really important and I like to work with students who appreciate that.

What you should also know about me is that I have a production company in New York City, so I do occasionally take trips down there, but honestly, it hasn't gotten in the way of any of my other private clients in Boston. I'd be happy to connect you with some of them if you'd like to hear from them about my teaching style or how this schedule has worked for us.

The other thing that you should know about me is that in teaching you, I am interested in empowering you. In our time together, I will be very hands-on and I will work to give you what you need. It is my hope, however, that by working together we can create a shift in your overall lifestyle and habits, so that even when I'm not with you, you have a vast number of techniques in your back pocket. I feel like my job as a teacher is to actually make you LESS dependent on me, and more reliant on a new found understanding of your body and your instrument.
