Personal Message: "Learning how to sing is fun!! It is also a lot of work. =) My goal for each student in every lesson is that they EXPERIENCE something new and better when it comes to vocal technique, and that they EXPERIENCE what I like to call the "happy music feeling." The perfect hybrid is when vocal technique is no longer an issue, and singing songs becomes effortless, joyful, and ripe for self expression and passion. This does not happen overnight, but with practice, dedication, and a patient impatience that keeps the student striving for perfection while simultaneously enjoying the process.
I teach all ages and I don't require an audition like many other highly trained teachers. I understand that you are coming to me to learn HOW to sing, and this is why I love beginners so much! I have spent many years studying to become the best voice teacher I can because I find teaching others the joy of singing incredibly rewarding. I understand the demands of a rigorous performance schedule, and I love the opportunity to help fine tune a working singer's vocal technique. Whether you are a beginner, a professional, or somewhere in between, I can teach you to sing higher, stronger, and faster with more ease than you probably thought possible. I look forward to working with you and your voice!"
Here are some nice things people have said about her:

SKYPE LESSONS: Since I moved to Pennsylvania from San Diego, I have begun taking all of my lessons from Seth Riggs via Skype. I also maintained almost my entire San Diego student base by teaching via Skype, and in addition starting accepting students from all over the country and the world. I now have a very busy studio with an over 70% Skype student base due to the high demand for SLS technique and a balanced approach to singing instruction.
My youngest Skype student is 4 years old, and I recently held my first Skype Student integrated recital where online students performed live on a big screen from the comfort of their own homes! I'm constantly thinking of new ways to engage students from all corners of the world, create an online studio community, and offer performance and learning opportunities. Skype lessons are a great option for those without access to good vocal technique instructors or those who have tight schedules and prefer not to battle traffic on the way to the voice studio.

I conduct my lessons with an emphasis on students musical interests while promoting the development of technical facility. Each lesson begins with a series of warm ups targeted to promote the students individual technical growth on his/her instrument. Then, we progress into song study. However, no lesson I teach is the same as every student as every student has unique wants and needs that change with every lesson. I like to create a fun environment that promotes the freedom and comfort for students to explore their instruments and grow. I have taught for many years and I have found that I am easy-going, understanding and always professional in lessons. I had so many wonderful kind teachers that sincerely inspired me when I first began my musical studies and that same passion, love of music and empathy is what I strive to bring to my own lessons.

I have been trained classically my entire life on voice and flute. However, Berklee college of Music really trained me to be a singer of all genres. I stress good technique and classical is a good tool, it does not allow for gaps in facility. Thus, when working with a student I I make sure that we focus both on classical technique and whatever genre they want to excel in, I show them how to connect the classical to the genre of their choice. I am a trained performer with vast experience and I have many tools that can help people with problems such as stage fright really embrace performing. For instance, I will right words connected with an emotion on flashcards and flash them and make singer act them out while performing a piece, it helps show that if you sing the meaning of the piece and try to share that, nerves tend to be easier to deal with. I have also trained in Los Angeles with the Aaron Speiser Acting Studio and am more than able to coach with monologues and scen study/help a performer really delve into the character of their piece.
I play and teach Guitar (Electric/Acoustic), Bass (Electric/Upright), 5-String Banjo (Bluegrass and Old-timey), Violin/Fiddle, Mandolin, Dobro, Pedal Steel Guitar and Lap Steel Guitar, Ukulele, Piano and Piano Accordion. Other teachers at my studio, teach guitar, bass, piano, clarinet, saxophone and flute. I have been teaching in the Pittsburgh area for over 20 years and owned my music studio/store for over 10 years. I have instructional book/cd(s) and instruments for purchase or rentals usually available on-site. Our teachers are experienced and friendly. Parking lot is free and off-street.
"Steven is very professional and extremely helpful. He always has a smile on and is serious about helping you phrase the music. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
"It's been really exciting so far! Jordan has been so helpful, so knowledgeable. I could not have found a better instructor and I'm getting better and better every day."
"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
