I am a full-time pedagogue/performer with seven years' experience teaching private lessons in voice, piano, and acting to a range of ages and levels of students. Although the majority of my students are young adults, I have worked successfully with children, teenagers, and adult students (twenties to senior citizens) of both genders; I tailor my approach specifically to the goals and interests of each student; no two people learn the same way.
I hold a Bachelor's of Music in vocal performance from West Virginia University (summa cum laude, WVU Outstanding Senior, Honors College J. and C. Nath Outstanding Senior, Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships candidate). I regularly perform as a soloist in opera, oratorio, concerts, and recitals and completed training through the Ezio Pinza Concil for American Singers of Opera in Italy, the American Singers' Opera Project of North Carolina, and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.
As a teacher, I completed a year-long vocal pedagogy course with Cynthia Bess which provided me with a thorough understanding of the anatomy and psychology of singing, as well as a systematic approach to the correction of vocal faults. In the spring of 2010, one of my students, a teen-aged boy, was selected to attend Eastman's summer program for high school students. Several of my students have performed leading roles in school, community, and university musical productions.
I hold a full voting membership in the National Association of Teachers of Singing, am a Licensed Kindermusik Educator, and am employed as Director of Music Ministry for a fairly large church. I was also a teaching artist at Propel East Charter School for Greensburg American Opera and directed the Old Economy Singers (a twenty-voice historical choir) for six years.

I have extensive knowledge of music history and theory. I am a dramatic bass and have performed many operatic and theatrical roles most recently Judge Turpin. I have sung with the Jr. Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in the Bach Magnificat and the Mozart Coronation Mass to name a few. I also have extensive training as a pianist. I have a joy for music that I feel will be beneficial to my students! I will be performing the role of Sarastro from the Magic Flute in March.

I have been an active performer in both the operatic and concert repertory. In the past few years, I have been a soloist at Carnegie Hall, the Chicago Theater, in the Toledo Orchestra’s Christmas concert, and at Chicago’s Ravinia Festival. I originated the role of Dari in Lookinglass Theater at Ravinia’s production of SitaRam. Recent opera credits include Dorabella in Così Fan Tutte and Mme Lidoine in Dialogues des Carmélites, as well as Beppe (L'Amico Fritz) in 2005 in Italy. She has also performed scenes from L’Elisir D’Amore (Adina), The Rape of Lucretia (Female Chorus), Der Freischütz (Agathe), Die Fledermaus (Rosalinde), Madama Butterfly (title role), Arabella (title role), Suor Angelica (title role), Don Giovanni (Donna Anna, Donna Elvira), and Medea (Glauce). I received her Bachelor’s of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory and my Masters from Indiana University.
I began training as a violinist, studying with teachers at the Cleveland Institute of Music, DePaul University, and the Oberlin conservatory for seventeen years. From violin, my interests expanded into vocal music, and became a member of the Chicago Children's Choir for ten years. From there, I decided to pursue a career in classical music, focusing on voice. As a teacher of singing, I'm passionate about my students making progress in a fun and healthy way. If a student is interested in getting a thorough technique in the fundamentals of singing, they can then go on to sing any type of music they choose in the healthiest and easiest manner possible. I have taught professionally at the Oberlin Conservatory's Secondary Lessons program, Avon Lake School of Music, and am a current teacher at UNCSA's Community Music School, as well as maintaining my own private studio. I have worked with all levels, from teenagers looking to do well at a talent show and adults wanting to learn to match pitch to budding professional singers.

I started my music journey at New England Conservatory of Music taking voice lessons with Afrika Hayes. I then studied piano and music theory at Berklee College of Music. After that, I received my bachelors and masters in vocal performance at The Boston Conservatory of Music with Grace Hunter, and Iride Pilla. As part of my graduate program in voice, I studied voice therapy with David Blair McClosky and conducting with Attilio Polo.
My education to be a music teacher is from the best schools in the country. This education is combined with my love for helping my students achieve their goals. Many of my students have gone on to Broadway, Opera, prestigious universities, or to become college professors themselves.
I have used this vast education to sing on National Public Radio, and record two CD's. One CD premiered in Ireland on several radio stations. I have experience teaching voice at Point Park University, Robert Morris University with a Concert Choir, and conducted "Into The Woods" at Duquesne University. I have taught all levels K-12 in Boston and Pittsburgh. I have seen beginners to professionals and have been able to help them all. This is truly my passion and has been life for the past 35 years.
I look forward to meeting new students and helping them achieve their goals!!
