I teach reading rhythms, playing with a bend and how to groove!
I have taught private guitar, piano, bass and drum lessons since the late 70s in Salt Lake City, where I majored in jazz guitar performance, and since 1980 in Los Angeles. I make the lessons fun. Some of my students have received college scholarships and won cash prizes for music contests. All of them had fun while learning and improving on their instruments.

I am very enthusiastic and can teach students how to read. If they do not want to read music, they can learn to play by ear. I can also show them where to put their fingers. During piano lessons, I often accompany students on guitar and suggest a scale for improvisation, so they can play the blues. During drum lessons, I often play bass so they can learn to groove.

They should have ...
I want to make sure my students have a good time learning drums but I also want to make sure they learn a lot..! I always make sure to ask my students what they want to learn and what their favorite music is... after that, I figure out what type of lessons to plan out.
Ever since I received my first drum set from my family at age 8 I've been studying and playing percussion and drums. Immediately it became one of my passions in life.
In elementary school I expanded my musical circle and met friends who I still play music with today. I played drums for bands in elementary school, middle school and high school, including the school jazz ensembles and marching band. In my senior year of high school I joined Camerata (advanced boys & girls choir) as a tenor. I have also been part of various orchestras, concert bands, alternative, rock, jazz, and even metal ensembles with original music. Some of the notable bands I've performed with and/or still perform with are: Jr. Philharmonic Orchestra of California, San Fernando Valley Symphony, Los ...
Drumset only. I can teach students a variety of basic drum grooves in a variety of styles and can help students understand how to incorporate fills into their playing. I can also teach reading basics.
I have been happily playing music for over half of my life and it has always been the light in my day. Now it is my hope to shed that same light onto you or your child. I am a very friendly and fun teacher with a great deal of professionalism and patience, even more importantly I love teaching and music with a passion.
I have been playing an instrument since the 4th grade (cello) and, as I learned how music works, was slowly able to pick-up a greater variety instruments with an increasing degree of ease. In high school, I decided to pick-up the guitar just to "have fun and rock out". I joined a band, played in the high school orchestra, joined the high school jazz band and began to practice songwriting and cover songs. Still, it was not until after I took my first class on ...
I have over 15 years of drumming experience. I graduated from the Berklee College of Music where I studied drum set performance with Dave DiCenso and Mike Mangini.
As a performer, I have been on tours with more than 20 shows in a row before crowds of 10,000+ people, played in studio sessions as a Sony and Universal Music recording artist, and even opened for Dream Theater.
As an educator, I have taught more than 30 clinics under endorsement by Pearl, Paiste and Silverfox around Europe; run several independent drum camps (Pavel V. Drum Days); released a series of YouTube drum lessons (Pavel V. Office Hours); and worked with a wide variety of private students for the past eight years.
My primary style is rock, although I do enjoy playing and teaching Pop, R&B, Gospel, ...
Basics of drumming? Rhythms? Play with songs? Rock? Hip-hop?
I began playing drums in 1999, teaching myself in the garage. I took 2 years of drum classes in college and performed in a nationally touring band as a drummer. I have taught drums to a wide variety of students with a wide variety of musical interests.
I've been playing music for over 20 years. I've been teaching for over 10 years. My main instrument is guitar but I also play and teach piano, drums, uke and bass. I play with two acts in the area: Nataly Lola (acoustic covers) and We Were Superheroes (original rock). I am constantly listening to new alternative music (98.7 and AltNation) as well as learning the classics for the cover band. I never have a bias for a song and am always surprised when the pop song on the radio is actually quite clever when broken down to its roots. As a teacher I cater to the student. I've taught Old Country, Jazz Theory, New Metal, Russian Ska (yup!) and anything else that you want to learn.
I can teach beginner/intermediate drum lessons. Subjects would include groove (all important!), timing, ensemble techniques/dynamics, and reading.
I hold a bachelor's degree in electric bass performance from Musicians Institute in Hollywood. I also have national as well as international touring experience playing for a platinum selling artist with a major label. I also worked at MI as a teachers assistant helping to run performance based classes, as well as helping students improve their chart writing and song writing skills. I teach real world principles in electric bass playing, and am able to teach students that only want to play for fun, or those who seek professional work in the industry.
