About Christoffer

I have an MFA in Music Composition and Piano Performance from California Institute of the Arts and a BA in Music Composition from UC Santa Barbara. I have been playing the piano since the age of 7 and started composing as a teenager. I began teaching music in high school and quickly learned that providing musical knowledge is just as important as acquiring the skills it takes to be a musician. Studying with me will help you become a well-rounded musician with the ability to play the type of music you want to play. Constantly composing, film scoring, and performing, I'm a very active musician that works with classical musicians, rock musicians, and everything in between. I teach a variety of instruments and will cater lessons to your styles and interests. I'm also a recording artist ...

Chris is a great teacher. I worked with him at CalArts. He has a highly diverse range of skills as an instrumentalist and composer. He works in various musical styles fluently (from film scoring, songwriting, instrumental and vocal writing, to electronic music). A friendly and pleasant teacher to work with—he is very good at meeting the student at his/her level and helping them with their own individual artistic goals/needs. I highly recommend him as a teacher to anyone wanting to develop their musical skills.

Chris knows his stuff about music for sure. He is a very nice and friendly guy, and chill. He works around your schedule and musical wants. I decided to try and learn the accordion, and started with absolutely no experience. Within 2 months (7 lessons or so) I was crankin' that thing like a pro.

I am a working pro musician, regularly playing all different kinds of gigs with different bands, as well as solo, and regular gigs on TV. I have taught music lessons, and guitar in particular, for 18 years. I play all styles, but my favorites are Rock, R&B, Country, Rockabilly, and Blues (I also enjoy playing jazz, classical, and other styles as well). My main instruments are guitar (electric and acoustic) and voice, but I play keyboards, bass, mandolin, and drums also. *** Lesson Details *** I focus on a comprehensive approach, incorporating each student's natural abilities as well as musical interests - whether you want to learn how to play your favorite songs, learn all the skills to play with a ...

Highly recommended: Amazing teacher!

Mike is a patient, supportive and incredibly talented teacher. From music theory to practical application, he's got all the answers... And he makes learning fun!

I took guitar lessons more than ten years ago and found it frustrating and I was terribly uninspired. Recently I took my old guitar out of mothballs and was determined to make some progress on the dang thing. A good friend recommended Mike and I've been taking lessons for nine months with him.

What's great about Mike is that he customizes my lessons. I'm not learning out of a book (which, I could if wanted) but I'm learning the songs that I love and learning the theory behind the chords, too. Then he keeps building on what we just learned. I go home from my hour lessons and play for another two hours because I'm so inspired.

I can't recommend Mike highly enough. He's a gem of a music instructor in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles.

Jon R. Van Nuys, CA

Music has been a part of my life since I was very young. I fully understand and empathize with the fact that not everyone learns at the same pace, or even in the same way. With that being said, I try and see things from the students perspective, and teach in a variety of differing ways to better recognize what works best for that particular individual.

About Jon

Hello and welcome! I'm Jon, a 23 year old who just moved to Los Angeles from Boston. I recently graduated from Berklee College of Music '13, as a Professional Musician with guitar as my principle instrument. I have been playing for 10+years and have studied with over 25 different teachers (including Greg Howe, Joe Stump, etc.), so I know what does and doesn't work with students. From Progressive Rock, to Blues, to Jazz, Classical and odd meter Fusion, I have a versatile pallet of styles and genre's to teach and introduce you to. Within only a few lessons, I promise to have you on the way to being the player you only dream of. Between tapping, (hybrid, economy, sweep, and alternative) picking, obscure chord variations/ inversions, and more, there is something for every player to learn! I ...

Tyler H. North Hollywood, CA

I have been teaching piano for the past 6 years. I am also an active performer, and have been playing piano for the past 22 years. For beginning students, I primarily use the Piano Adventures series for help with sight-reading and learning basic music theory. I combine this with learning memorized repertoire, usually one classical piece and one piece chosen by the student. Overall, I want the student to learn the piano from the ground up, but also learn the joys of the instrument.

About Tyler

Greetings students! My name is Tyler, and I am a composer and pianist in the Los Angeles area. A very ambitious and motivated individual. As a college senior, I was one of the few distinguished graduates to receive simultaneous invitations to interview for my Master's at the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, and NYU. I continued my education at the graduate level at Manhattan School, earning my Master's degree in 2009. From 2009 to 2011, I worked as a freelance composer and teacher. During this time, I received performances of my compositions with orchestras and ensembles all over the country. I have had significant success with students interested in everything from popular music and jazz to film music and orchestral compositions. My students have been admitted to ...
