About Me

Eric is a Certified
Music Teacher in 75234

First off, thank you for your interest with TakeLessons as it is a great opportunity for students to experience the wonders of music and teachers to continue to pursue the education and be able to establish a strong connect with students.

A little background of myself. I am a recent college graduate from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education that was received on May 12, 2012. With experience in both the music and education departments, I have had field experiences at Hico Independent School District and Dublin Independent School District. I have achieved over 100 hours of tutoring and creating lesson plans of all levels before and during my student teaching internship. In addition, I have conducted the bands in the junior high and high school levels in several rehearsals and have made contributions and achieved goal-setting objectives with various band and school activities, as well as the UIL Concert and Sight Reading competition and other band festivities. As a graduate student from Tarleton State University, my performance experience includes managing a principal position and leadership with the ensembles provided by the Tarleton Music Department. Music is my passion and teaching is what I have grown to know and love the most in my life. It is my opportunity to emphasize my passion and to encourage students and parishioners the importance of music, performance, and a friendly classroom environment for any grade level in any classroom and setting.

In addition to my education field, I have had various performance experience with from the symphonic bands/wind ensembles, jazz bands/combos, marching bands, full orchestras, musicals (pit orchestra, and stage acting), choirs (full and men's choir), and trombone ensembles and recitals, I have also had experience with the Minister of Music position at the now-defunct Oasis Praise Center in Frisco, TX. Following my departure from the Oasis Praise Center, I am now a volunteer as a vocalist with the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church Choir. Various awards include TMEA All-Region, UIL State Solo & Ensemble, and the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award.

Outside of the music field, I do work with children ages 3-11 at a local day care center as an after school program teacher and create lessons and activities as well as supervise and assist young children with their needs.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are very laid back and relaxed for the students to feel comfortable in my classroom environment. My lessons are very positive and straight forward for the student (and even parents) to understand. Each lesson would start off with an introduction (i.e. personal life, warm ups, etc.) followed by a review of the lesson before if our first lesson is being conducted, the lesson would be to identify strengths/weaknesses and work along with the student. I always check for understanding for myself to assess the student in what the student knows, wants to know, and what the student needs to learn. Each lesson will contain a small assignment (nothing too difficult or too long) for the student to practice on to perform mastery of the lesson for next time. For a closure, review everything that was lectured during the lesson and remind the student to prepare for next time. After 3 to 6 months, I would have the student up to the mastery level they are able to achieve to reach their goal.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I currently do not have a studio of my own.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Myself: Trombone, Piano/Electronic Keyboard, and recorder (for elementary use), sheet music, method books, pencil, and paper

Student: Their own native instrument and music (if assigned)

*** Specialties ***
Elementary: Kodaly method, Suzuki method

Secondary: Band, some choir, and some theater
