Hello future rockstars and music loving parents,

I am a musician playing guitar professionally in the LA area, both in studio and live performance, recording for blues and folk artists as well as hip hop/R&B producers such as Warren G. Also playing in orchestral groups as a bassist in live play productions. I have recently finished music studies at The Musicians Institute of Hollywood, CA.

I am rounded when it comes to different guitar and bass styles, most comfortable in the area of Blues, R&B, Rock, Classic Rock and Jazz. Open to all music and styles

Dayren was fated to be an entertainer. Born in Matanzas, Cuba to a professional musician father and an actress mother, she opted for a musical life and chose to study violin at age 8. Her passion for music has taken her on a journey around the world and across musical styles.
After graduating from the National Art School in Havana, she had extended engagements playing with the National Symphonic Orchestra of Havana and as concertmaster of the Camerata Romeu. Both engagements involved extensive live performance, international touring, recording, and film score work in a range of genres.

Dayren earned her master's in music performance from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Since relocating to Los Angeles in 2006, she has worked extensively with latin jazz ensemble Mongorama and appears on their Grammy-nominated 2012 CD. I love helping people explore their passion for music! Finding a teacher that you (and/or your kids) enjoy is half the battle! I am great with kids but I love teaching adults, too. I want to know what YOU want to learn and help YOU learn it! I want my students to ENJOY their lessons in hopes that music becomes something they stick with their whole lives.

I am classically trained on piano (Westminster College PA, Belmont University TN) but I am also very experienced with chord improvisation. I started writing music at age 12 and have had a couple of my own songs used in TV shows and film (MTV and National Lampoon's). I am also the lead singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist for my own rock band. We play out regularly in the LA area. All this to say I have a LOT of different musical experience to pull from and can teach or coach a student in a couple different directions, depending what YOU want to get out of your learning experience! Piano, singing, and songwriting began for me when I discovered really awesome piano music such as with bands like Queen, Yes, and ELP. After high school, I studied classical music composition at Wheaton College's Conservatory of Music receiving my Bachelors in Music Composition with a focus in piano. My professional experience includes singing on film/tv productions such as High School Musical, Hairspray, and Struck By Lightning. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Jen was 13 years old when she picked up her first guitar, rescuing her mom’s dusty old acoustic from the family’s attic. Quickly developing a love for the instrument, Jen headed west to sharpen her craft at LA’s esteemed Musicians Institute, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in music performance.
While studying at MI, Jen formed the folk-pop duo Jen & Abby with vocalist Abby Miller. With their quirky style and catchy tunes, the band soon gained a devoted following through gigs at many renowned LA venues, including The Key Club, House of Blues, and Hotel Café. Following the release of their 2008 debut album Cannot Rearrange, the band’s music was featured in multiple films and television commercials.

Matt G. is a professional percussionist/drummer who has vast experience from all genres of the music industry. He has a bachelor’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he studied with timpanist/percussionist legend, Vic Firth. He also studied with Jaki Byard, George Russell and later with music guru, Charlie Banacos and Alan Dawson, renowned drummer/educator.

After graduation from NEC, he won the principal timpanist position for the Maracaibo Symphony Orchestra in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He remained in Venezuela for almost 9 years playing and teaching what was then the beginning of El Sistema. One of his former students is presently the principal timpanist of the orchestra and a couple of his other former students play in the percussion section. It was here that he became fluent in Spanish.

I've been surrounded by music literally my entire life - both of my parents were professional classical violinists, and my first word was "gig." Before taking up guitar, I'd studied piano and cello; as I focused more on guitar, that also led to interests in electronic music, recording production and engineering, and composition. I went on to obtain a BFA in guitar performance, and have been actively playing, writing, recording, and teaching for many years.

For beginning students, I combine basic playing technique with a solid foundation in musical fundamentals, including standard notation, rhythmic reading, and (when useful) tablature. For more advanced students, my specialty is in applying a number of core concepts (including theory, ear training, and technique) to a wide range of musical styles. I'll typically use examples from rock, jazz, and blues as ways of "connecting the dots" between core music concepts and their real-world application.

I've worked professionally as an actor in Television, Film, Theatre, and Voice Over for over 30 years. I started working in TV shortly after I got out of school and have guest starred in over 50 episodes (including FRASIER, ER, BONES, CSI, SMALLVILLE, THE MENTALIST, and most recently PERCEPTION) in addition to many lead roles in many films. In recent years I've also been touring on stage all over the world in a production of George Orwell's "1984" with my theatre company, The Actors Gang.
