Daniel R. L. began his Musical career at the age of 10 teaching himself how to play the guitar.

Later began his formal musical training with guitarist Carlos Castilla. He Studied at the Classical Guitar Program at Andes University in Bogota, Colombia with under Carlos Rocca Lynn & Jaime Arias Obregon. Master classes with Leo Brouwer, Eduardo Fernandez, Ricardo Cobo, Jorge Caballero, Manuel Barrueco, Ahmet Kannecci and Ricardo Iznaola also taken private instruction with Francisco Navarro, Fernando Kabusacki, Tony Geballe, Curt Golden, Scott Tennant, Al Koonze, among others.

In 2001 He was selected among the ‘Youngest Performer Series” at Luis Angel Arango Music Hall in Bogotá. This performance was broadcast by the HJCK radio station. His composition for solo guitar “Energeia” is featured in the CD compilation of contemporary music, “Ecua”.

I'm Mike, and I'm thrilled to be part of the TakeLessons team. I first picked up the guitar at the age of 5, and have never looked back! I began formal Jazz training in high school and continued studying guitar and composition at Oberlin College and Wesleyan University. After graduating, I played Organ Trio and small combo jazz in LA, studied Brazilian and African percussion, and went to Japan to study Shamisen and Taiko drumming. I've been playing in various groups since arriving in NYC in 2005, and have recently been working on engineering and composing for film.

My strength lies in my versatility - I love music of all kinds. Whether it's Soul, Samba, or Salsa, Rock, Pop or Hip Hop, I am very good at communicating the mechanics of music so that my students not only learn to play, but learn to listen and write. Music has played a big role in my life ever since I was 4 and heard The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night." From that point on, I committed myself towards a life in music, soon after beginning lessons on classical guitar. Through high school I studied classical and jazz guitar at Philadelphia's esteemed Settlement Music School, and I subsequently attended New York University as a jazz studies major in both guitar and composition for a bachelors and masters degree.

As a teacher, I love to pair my academic knowledge of music with my decades of experience listening to and playing popular music ranging from rock and funk to bluegrass and hip hop. I've performed in settings ranging from jazz clubs in Italy, to theater in New York, and rock clubs in Philadelphia. In my lessons I like to bring that diverse experience to create a curriculum that compliments the interests of the student.

A graduate of the University of Rochester with a B.A. in Music and Psychology and a trained instructor from the renowned National Guitar Workshop, Adam is an experienced teacher and performer on the guitar, bass, and piano, and is well-versed in a variety of styles, including rock, pop, jazz, classical, and folk. Adam loves to share his passion for music with others, and ever since his first student, an autistic child, Adam has sought to make learning music fun, regardless of age, style, and ability. Before relocating to New York City, Adam organized and executed a recital for all of his students in Rochester, allowing the opportunity for his students to perform in a relaxed setting for their families and friends, and later distributed a DVD of the event to the students. Adam is exceptionally knowledgeable in a diverse array of styles and is eager to share his love for music with others.

I'm a teacher, clinician, and bandleader with 10+ years of teaching experience. I have a Master's degree from Queens College (CUNY) in Jazz Performance. I'm currently a faculty member of the Westchester Music Conservatory in White Plains. I've also led many clinics and master classes here and abroad. My endeavors as a bandleader and recording artist have garnered me praise in the media and beyond.

As a teacher I'm extremely patient, easy-going, versatile, and I cater to your individual needs as a student. I enjoy working with kids and adults alike. I understand the instrument, I understand good technique, and I'll be sure to steer you away from common beginner habits that are undesirable and difficult to correct later on. I'll teach you how to build your technique, proper hand position, scales, and arpeggios. And if you just want to learn how to play the songs that you love on the guitar, I can teach you how to do that as well. It's as simple as that.

Having played guitar since the age of 14 I have been trained in classical guitar and eventually obtained a music degree from Claremont McKenna College in California.
Specializing in Classical music as well as Brazilian genres such as choro, bossa-nova and samba I also have interest for blues and classic rock. I take students who both want to learn classical guitar or are interested in learning to play pop / rock songs.
I have performed in several restaurants and events while living in California including Pitzer College's annual Kohoutek Festival and the 2008 Democratic Party Santa Barbara Jefferson Jackson dinner.

A lifelong musician and songwriter, Ian S has extensive experience teaching guitar and piano to students age 3 and up both as a private music instructor and as a teacher at the Institute of Music for Children in New Jersey. With 25 years experience in guitar and piano, Ian has studied and performed with several award-winning music artists, and has written and recorded over one hundred songs. He plays and teaches a variety of styles on both the guitar and the piano, from classical to jazz to rock. Ian is patient, friendly, and loves sharing the gift of music.

Ian was the guitarist in the Princeton University Jazz Ensemble for 3 seasons, was selected from a nationwide pool of musicians to perform at a special music event at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and was the recipient of the New Jersey Governor's Award in Arts Education for the category of Instrumental Music.

Like any great art form, the study of music starts with inspiration. That inspiration reached me in the form of a music teacher in my freshman year of high school. Though I was never a student in his class, I was always playing guitar in the halls of the music department waiting for this bit of advice or that. I was eager to learn and work hard to unlock everything that my instrument could offer me, and my teacher was there every step of the way during those early years. He still inspires me to this day, encouraging me to keep on searching for what makes this thing we call music so powerful in so many ways to the people who experience it.

In the years since, I went on to earn a Bachelor's in Music at CUNY Hunter College in Manhattan, and there I remain one year into my Masters in Music with concentration in Performance, Theory, and Composition. Plans for future study include a DMA or PhD from the CUNY Grad Center, and I fully intend to be a full professor at the university...

My experiences have been far-reaching . I was trained formally as a concertise of the classical guitar. I studied at the Cleveland Music School Settlement and at the Cleveland State University before my sojourn to Vienna, Austria where I was accepted as a student at the Academie for Music and Performing Arts, arriving there at the age of 19, becoming a protege of Luise Walker-Hesjek.
