I had a real hard time learning guitar when I was growing up because of an accident to my left arm, but I wanted to play so much that I was able to overcome it. Because of this I think I have learned to be a very patient teacher. I see students who get frustrated and think that it's too hard to play the guitar, but I promise you my program is fun and simple.I can show you the steps to success. I have taught over 500 students in a variety of cities from Minneapolis Minnesota, to Los Angeles California, and now Portland Oregon. I am currently obtaining my Masters in Music education from Marylhurst, and I have taught every age from 5-65. I have been playing drums since I was 10 years old. I loved playing drums so much that it became my life work. I was so advanced at an early age that I began giving lessons and teaching drum line when I was 13. I joined my first professional rock band at 15, and I have been playing and teaching music ever since.
I was fortunate to play in one the worlds top drum and bugle corps, the Santa Clara Vanguard, I also studied Jazz from the area's top jazz drummer, Dick Carlo, who was a student of Joe Morello. My technique is a unique combination of Jazz, Orchestral, and Rudimental styles. The luckiest part of my education was that I went to Lynbrook High School, which had the top concert band in the California. This is where I learned to play concert and orchestra music, and I learned about style, and musicianship.

I am a guitarist and songwriter currently living in Oregon. Chuck recently moved to Portland, Oregon from Gainesville, Florida, where he was a staple of the music teaching and performing community for more than 25 years. Originally from Chicago, Chuck completed his BA in Music History and Masters of Music (MM) at the University of Florida. Chuck became obsessed with The Beatles when he began piano lessons at age 12. His first attempt at composing was actually improvising melodies over the ending chords to "Hey Jude". Along with playing Beatles tunes Chuck learned classic standards from a set of Reader's Digest Songbooks inherited from his grandmother.

Chuck has performed with classic rock, top 40, funk, R&B, and jazz groups, and has served as an opening act for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and legendary Texas bluesman Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. As a soloist he's played classical music, blues, jazz, and original compositions. Before devoting himself to music full time, he worked for 8 years as a radio announcer on WUFT-FM...

Mark holds a Master of Music from the University of Missouri. He teaches piano, voice, violin, and composition. His students range from pre-schoolers to adults and include all skill levels, from beginner to professional. Mark is a faculty member at the Community Music Center and Multnomah Arts Center where we directs the choirs. He is also an Associate Conductor with the Pacific Youth Choir where we directs the boys choir.
In addition to teaching, Mark is actively involved in Portland's classical music scene. He sings with the Portland Symphonic Choir, Oregon Symphony, and as the tenor soloist at the First United Methodist Church.

I'm a passionate, fun-loving guitarist that specializes in jazz and funk, but I enjoy working with all genres, depending on what YOU - the student - wants! Music is an exciting adventure that I want to share that with all students and music lovers alike, be it through one-on-one-lessons, impromptu jam sessions, or performances.I received my degree in music performance from Knox College in Galesburg, IL, where I performed with various groups and discovered the joys of teaching. After receiving multiple awards and distinctions, performing with modern jazz greats, and studying under some of the finest musicians in the Midwest, I'm eager to share and develop my knowledge with other students, and through such reveal how much fun guitar can be.

I love teaching kids as well as adults of all ages! I strive to make my lessons comfortable and fun as well as challenging.

I have been playing drums since the 6th grade where I was in concert band and jazz band. From there I studied with a local teacher and went on to study music at Oregon State University. While at OSU, I participated in band camps and a percussion ensemble for middle and high school kids which led me to my passion for teaching younger students.

My performing experiences include playing drums and percussion for many different groups. I've played drums for progressive rock, jazz, Brazilian and punk rock groups as well as percussion for the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra and the Newport Symphony Orchestra.
