Greetings from Tampa! As a teacher of drum lessons in Tampa, I have been fortunate to find others who share my passion all over the state of Florida. In the Tampa Bay Area, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and other parts of Florida, there are many drum circles, live performances, and even classes that use drumming as a therapeutic technique! This area is absolutely fertile with talented musicians from all walks of life. Dunedin Brewery is one of Tampa's most engaging music venues that has drum circles every Tuesday night as well as open mic nights every Wednesday, which are welcoming to all new original artists and always entertaining. As both a teacher and a female drummer, I think it is vital to connect with those that have the same passion. The more we connect, the more we can learn to create at our optimum level, right? However, my search for others like me led me to a very interesting dilemma. Where are all the female drummers and what does a lady have to do to find some inspiring female drummers to either teach or learn from? This question leads me to the challenge that I am proposing today: if you are inspiring musician, female or male, contact me and tell me your story. What inspires you? How long have you been playing? Tell me your musical journey or the journey you would perhaps like to have with music one day. I love teaching music as much as I love to hear how people got to where they are today through music.
