Highly skilled, enthusiastic teacher

Cheryl was a wonderful teacher for our 10-year-old daughter. Cheryl was knowledgable, patient, and encouraging. Wynne loved going to lessons and learned a great deal. Cheryl taught her a variety of different types of pieces, geared toward our daughters ability and interests. Both my daughter and I highly recommend her! Our daughter would still be taking lessons from Cheryl, but she had to move . . . we miss you, Cheryl!

Excellent music teacher

My son took piano lessons from Cheryl for almost 3 years, and during that time Cheryl was the best teacher we could've asked for. She introduced him to various classical repertoire as well as other pieces that interested him. At the end of each lesson, she gave me specific feedback on areas he needed to work on as well as areas of progress. The practice plans were detailed and specific. My son loved her encouragement and gentle manner, while I appreciated the work she gave him. His piano playing grew so much with Cheryl. I was sorry to lose her when she moved.

I have three children. They were age 10, 6 and 4 when she taught them last year. Cheryl was really great with all three of them. My 10 year old had been playing for two years, and my 4 year old started playing with Cheryl. She was able to relate to all three aged children. She was able to get them playing multiple songs well every week; and at the same time, she was gentle and kind-hearted with them during lessons. They loved her as a teacher!

She was always on time for our lesson. We were part of a university program, and she showed up for every recital the university held. She even had her personal recital at Christmas time at a local piano studio. Cheryl is really dedicated to her students. She got them playing in the local Junior Festival, and one of my children even got to play in the Honors Recital!

About Rebekah

Hi y'all!! I am a Board Certified Music Therapist with experience in most age groups and functioning levels. I have taught young elementary school students as well as adults. I love working with students and teaching them to love their instrument. I graduated from East Carolina University in May 2013, completed an internship at the STAR Center in Jackson, Tennessee, and am currently working on my Master of Music Therapy degree at Florida State University. As a student, I was not a traditional learner and my private teachers often had to find new ways to explain concepts to me. Because of that, I am always looking for new ways for students to understand and learn to the best of their ability.
