I was born and raised in Iowa City, IA. I started playing guitar when I was seven years old. I was able to meet one of my biggest idols, at the time, Johnny Lang. He really inspired me and told me if I kept playing, maybe we'd play together someday. I knew then that it was what I wanted to do. I continued to take lessons and play guitar whenever I could as I grew up. By the time I was in High School, I had played in the pit bands for events such as the show choir and musical, and I played in a rock band with my brother. We played around in the Iowa City area a lot. I also began teaching private lessons for beginning students when I was a Junior in High School where I taught for 3 years. After High School, I decided to go to school for music. I wanted to make playing guitar my life, so I moved to Saint Paul, MN and began my bachelor's degree in guitar performance. Hey! My name is Sheena and I have been teaching lessons for about 6 years. I went to St Cloud State University for 2 years for music education, with saxophone being my major instrument. Now I am currently a student at Mcnally Smith College of Music for my Bachelors in Guitar Performance. I have been playing guitar for about 10 years now and have played shows all around the Twin Cities area. I can also play quite a few other instruments.
I am experienced in recording, composing and producing and have been on a few different albums playing guitar.
I am experienced in the music field which I believe is important to be as a teacher. In my lessons it will be very laid back but productive at the same time. I will find a way of teaching that is best for the student and will help them achieve their goals of playing. Lessons will be fun and practicing will not feel like homework!

I have been playing, writing and recording music for over sixteen years. I hold a Bachelor's degree in music production from McNally Smith College of Music in St Paul, MN.I am available to teach guitar, bass, and voice with an emphasis on creativity. My specialty is looking at the bigger picture of music, taking the technical skill you acquire on your instrument and using that as a tool for composition, improvisation and performance.
