I was 13 when I received my first bass and up through high school mostly played classic rock and punk. After high school I really got into Jazz and studied it for a few years before being accepted into CSU long beach music program. At CSU Long Beach I had the opportunity to perform with many different styles of jazz and many different group sizes and instrumentation. I also played in their orchestra and received classical training for the upright bass. Since graduating I have a working blues and rock band I gig with regularly all over LA county and a Rock Band that plays LA county also. Throughout the past 12 years since I started playing music I have written, arranged and put groups together to perform my original music. With this training and experience I can offer any student a stronger foundation for playing and performing their music but also help with creating their own music.

Guitarist, Instructor and Studio Musician Ted M. and his band released two albums in the early eighties to high critical acclaim, (Illustrated Victims in 1981 and Artful Dodger in 1984) and quickly became the darlings of the Rocky Mountain music scene. After constant touring and a relentless live schedule, Ted M., who had opened for everyone from Firefall to Lynyrd Skynyrd, left for a short sabbatical that spanned 15 years. Ted M. is back and better than ever and what transpired during this extended hiatus seems clearly documented in Get A Life, the incredible new CD which was released with a Laser show and reception at the Fiske Planetarium on the CU campus on Dec. 10th, 2000 to a standing ovation and rave reviews. Ted M. is a dynamic singer, songwriter and extraordinary guitarist who blends electronic samples and programs with conventional instrumentation to create classic compositions with passionate, unforgettable musical and lyrical integrity. Get A Life is 12 songs and 65 minutes that encompass a unique blend of modern and conventional accompaniment which showcases beautifully crafted melodies that epitomize musicianship, production, songwriting and arrangement capabilities with unsurpassed passion and vision. It Is What It Is was released to a standing room only, sellout house at Nissi's Showcase Cabaret in Lafayette, CO on July 26th, 2006 and is a continuation of that craft and passion for music but, this time, with an interesting twist; the captivating and dynamic singer, Allison Hawkins handling 90% of the vocal chores! Ted M. has now completed another personal CD with Allison Hawkins entitled, EP. Ted has filled the guitar chair in the rock opera, "Magdalene, Woman Of Light" staged at the Denver Civic Theater in October, 2008 and monopolized much of the musical score in the full length, feature film, "The Highway Home" directed by Laurel Hunter. I've been teaching privately for more than 20 years, along with extensive touring on the national and regional levels.
National tours have been with many R&B, Soul, and Funk artists, such as Malo, Bloodstone, GQ, Deniece Williams, Dazz Band, and many more. I've played on several albums, some of them being Bloodstone's Ultimate Collection, GQ's Tribute to Billy Steward and Marvin Gaye, as well as Troy Dixon's debut album.
Training has included private study with known standouts in the music industry, such as Carlos Gonzales and Jeff Berlin.
My students run the gamut - from beginners wanting to learn how to play some of their favorite songs, to high school students preparing for a university music degree, to pros who want to take their skills to another level.
Lessons are tailored to each individual's needs. There are certain elements that each student needs to know, which will be covered. There are also things that students want to learn, such as favorite songs, and those will be covered as well.
With over 20 years of real world experience and training, I believe I can bring a fresh approach to learning guitar and bass for the potential student.
