When you grow up in Nashville, you grow up in music. It’s easy to take the talent around you for granted. But, being able to watch and learn from some of the best players on Earth gave me the chance to study Jazz at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro, and the opportunity to tour America and Europe as a professional performer and published songwriter. I have played to thousands of folks across the Globe, and I have learned that there’s no faster way to make new friends any place you go, no matter what language you speak. Also, playing an instrument is a constructive and creative pastime; not only are you exercising a whole new mind muscle, but you’re also developing a sound that is uniquely yours…Guitar Hero just can’t do that.
In between gigs, I have taught many students, from kids at a summer camp for at-risk youth, to teenagers at a private academy in India, to adults picking up a guitar for the first time who only want to learn enough to strum around a...
