I can teach beginners up to intermediate, and can teach most styles, except for slap bass.

About Aaron

Hello fellow and future musicians, and thanks for checking out my profile! To tell you a little about myself, I was exposed to music at a very young age since my dad was a musician. I first picked up the drums at the age of 5, and took piano lessons for a year when I was 6. I later played the saxophone in 4th grade, and finally discovered the guitar when I was 9. (Ironic since my dad is a guitarist and the guitar was around the house forever!) He showed me my first chords and really got me started on the instrument, and I played in several local bands in high school playing a range of musical styles from rock, blues, funk, and reggae. I really didn't take music seriously until I was in college, and began studying under Jerry Coelho, a member of the very first graduating class of the ...

I took my two boys one is 8 yrs. old and the other one is 14 yrs. old and both they never had any experience on playing the guitar and when they started going with Aaron, my kids where so happy to have a nice and knowledgeable instructor, they do know now how to read notes and they starting to play the guitar. Aaron has a lot of patience when it comes to kids and teenagers that starting to want to play the guitar, Aaron will explain and teach in a manner that kids want to go back the very next day and also teaches on a way it's fun for them and not boring. I will give Aaron 5 stars because he is a great instructor.

We love Aaron! My 9-year-old daughter is taking beginner guitar lessons. He's very patient and teaches at a pace that she's comfortable with. He's helpful in correcting her mistakes and is very encouraging. This has allowed her to grow an abundance of new skills. She also teaches them to me! Through this experience, she has taken a new interest in ukulele as well.

Aaron's very knowledgeable, talented and is accommodating to our busy schedule. Plus he's very funny! I've also learned a lot in this process as an observer. I'd definitely recommend him as a teacher to anyone who is a beginner or would like advance their skills.

I started working with Aaron a few months ago. Previously, I had never even picked up a banjo. Aaron has shown a great deal of patience and expertise with me in my practice. Since I began, I have learned some basics and have gained a pretty good understanding of this instrument and how it works. With Aaron's tutelage, I have learned to play 4 - 5 songs within a 2 1/2 month period of time! I would highly recommend Aaron as a teacher/coach to anyone interested in learning to play the banjo or guitar. Not only is he an extremely gifted musician, but he can teach as well!

Best decision I've made...

Taking lessons with Mikhail is the best decision I've made in a long time. I hadn't had any formal music instruction since I was a kid, so I was a little nervous about finding the right teacher for me. Playing music used to be a chore for me growing up. But Mikhail is so gentle and encouraging, flexibly attending to my individual needs, that I feel my relationship with music is being restored as a vital part of my life. Mikhail stresses technical proficiency in a way that isn't dry and boring. He is training my hands and ears to create a beautiful vehicle for self expression. He effortlessly inspires creativity, and so obviously loves teaching. I would recommend Mikhail to anyone who wants to master an instrument or learn how to create their own compositions.

My daughter just started to take violin lessons and from the first lesson she learned so much and even learned to play a tune by her second lesson. She is really loving the violin lessons and excited to reach her goals. He is very patient, knowledgeable and very humble. Looking forward to many more practices to come. Awesome Teacher!! I recommend him for anyone looking for Violin Lessons. He really knows his stuff :)
Jason M. San Diego, CA

As a bass player in a punk rock band I learned to apply the concepts I know on the guitar over to bass and slowly started introducing intervals and right and left hand techniques that are not as common on the guitar. A few of my bass students are professionals and have applied to big name music schools after taking my class.

I studied under Jordan when he was a TA at SDSU. He was laid back, easy to get along with, and always helpful when I had questions for him.
Since then, I've had the pleasure of performing in SDSU ensembles with Jordan. I mean it when I say it: Jordan is not only one of the best music teachers in San Diego, but he is also one of the best trombone players I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

The bass guitar is probably the most overlooked instrument in the traditional rock band. I will help you understand how to play tastefully and to groove with a drummer. You never want to be in the way; you're there to make everyone else sound good (they probably won't without you!).

About Francis

Hi everyone! I'm a hard-working musician with a background in live performance, songwriting, composition, and home recording. I want to help you perform the music you love, whether you're playing to your family, your webcam, or a 15,000 seat arena. I have been teaching private music lessons since 2007. I am a graduate of UCSD, where I completed my bachelor's degree in music theory and composition. I have taken years of private lessons, played bass, guitar, and mandolin in local and touring bands, and released three albums of original music. I want to make your goals accessible. *** Lesson Details *** I focus on making lessons fun for my students. Brandon B. San Diego, CA

I am not an expert on the base. However, by way of playing over a half dozen instruments, I am very, very musically inclined.

My bass lessons are geared more toward musical considerations, understanding how other instruments work so you have a greater sense of a bass player's role, and perfecting your ear, than they are about learning tons of scales or becoming an excellent sight reader.

I also have a lot of students who play bass in addition to another instrument(s), so we tend to bounce around instruments rather than focus solely on bass.

About Brandon

What do Britney Spears and Beethoven have in common? They're both pop music! One just happens to be 200 years old. Berklee College of Music graduate from Boston, MA with a passion for all genres, though mainly popular music. For me, music has always been about having fun and doing what feels natural, and I try to pass this on to my students. In all seriousness, if it's not fun, why do it? I'm super laid back, but I refuse to let you spend your money, or someone else's, on lessons like it's going out of style. I believe that the more fun you have with music, the more you'll want to play, and as a result, the better a musician you will become. *** Lesson Details *** Together, we will create daily, weekly, and monthly goals for you to achieve. In this way, we can both ...

I've been a professional musician for over 30 years. I've recorded and gigged at some of the most famous studios and venues around the world. I actually found Brandon through a mutual friend in Nashville about a year ago. I expressed to my friend (a big producer) that I was feeling stuck with my songwriting. After decades of playing, I felt I'd hit a wall. It just so happened that one of the bands at Black Bird Studios who was also friends of the producer had a friend who apparently was a pretty popular music teacher who had attended Berklee with a few of his band mates. He put us in touch and we started working on songwriting over Google Hangouts (which I'd never used before). I admit I wasn't sure about the whole idea of taking a lesson over the internet, much less with someone so much younger than me. Well, I guess there's a reason for everything! Brandon has completely opened up a new way of thinking and understanding music. He's shown me songwriting tricks that frankly I'm astonished nobody has ever showed me before. Perhaps the best part is that I'm able to keep up with our sessions while on the road, since we meet online twice a week. Really excited about some of the tunes we've been working on for the next album!!!
