With a Bachelor's in Music, vocal performance, and over 15 years of stage experience in theatre. musical theatre, cabaret, opera, oratorio, choir, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my teaching. Also a certified yoga instructor, I begin with the foundations of alignment and breath management, and have an eye for more subtle energetic movement. Utilizing a traditional bel canto technique, I work different vowels into vocalises to promote space, resonance, focus, and projection, as well as freeing the articulators for optimal diction.

With a full time performing career spanning two decades and experience as a Teaching Artist with San Francisco Opera and as a Voice Instructor at New England Conservatory, I come with a box of tools to help develop and highlight your strengths and to identify and correct vocal challenges. I also offer coaching in acting / character development as well as piano and general musicianship.

Since she began studying piano at age 4, music has been a lifelong passion, profession, and inspiration for Debbie. She has studied everything from classical piano and voice to Ghanaian drumming to jazz improvisation to gospel choir, eager to learn and incorporate multiple genres and musical cultures into her compositions and performances. I've been singing, performing, songwriting, and studying voice for 17 years. I have an Associate of Arts degree in Music & Voice/Vocal Performance, and have studied at Musician's Institute and Berklee College of Music. I graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Music, Science and Technology and then worked as an Audio Engineer at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) at Stanford, where I recorded and produced a number of Grammy-nominated albums. I worked with amazing students and faculty, helping them utilize digital audio hardware and software for composition and research purposes.

I have been called a natural-born teacher and have taught music to everyone from elementary school students to college graduate students. I began giving guitar lessons in high school and helped put myself through college by giving guitar lessons while I was a student at Stanford.

I've been playing music all of my life, from rock bands in high school to studying orchestral music at Berklee College of Music. I love creating music and helping others create their own music as well. Whether it's playing live, writing songs or recording in the studio, I'll jump at any chance to help students share their music with others.

I've done a wide variety of things in my musical life. I've got a degree in classical guitar, I have formed a bluegrass band, I study the music of Jimi Hendrix, trained extensively with San Francisco Opera, have sung Opera in many part of the globe, have been the solo guitarist/singer on the major Mediterranean luxury cruise ship- Seabourn Quest , and love to teach what I've learned from years of experience and great colleagues. I love to teach music and look forward to new adventures in lessons. I really enjoy the process of self-discover that comes with learning an instrument or singing beginning with fundamental technique. While it's true that I trained as an Opera singer and look forward to sharing, I'm a big fan of popular music as well. Tenor Sergio recently received his Master's degree under the tutelage of César Ulloa at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he also holds his Bachelor’s degree. This past summer he was an apprentice artist with the Des Moines Metro Opera program. This summer he will be performing the role of Albert in Britten's Albert Herring with the Green Mountain Opera Festival and in the spring as Vaslav Nijinski in Danse Russe (Paul Moravek's One-Act Opera) with Kentucky Opera. He will return in 2014 to Kentucky Opera to sing Benvolio and cover Tybalt in their production of Gounod's Romeo et Juliette. I was born in New York, then moved back to Istanbul, Turkey where I was raised. I have started to sing in 1983 with various choirs, in Istanbul, Turkey. I have performed with the prestigious TRT (Turkish Radio Television) Istanbul Youth Polyphonic Choir for 4 years.
