Hi! I’m Alison. I developed a passion for the arts while growing up, leading me on a career path as a professional performing and teaching artist. I've performed in NYC, LA and San Diego as a musician, vocalist, dancer, choreographer and actress. I’m also a recording artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist on voice, ukulele and piano.
My teaching career began in 1999 when started my own program as an independent teaching artist/director throughout San Diego. I also ran a non-profit arts organization for over 7 years while serving as it’s artistic and executive director. As a music instructor, I teach all levels of voice, beginning piano and beginning/intermediate ukulele. As a performing arts teacher; ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, modern, and acting.

I am currently the Music Director for Sea World San Diego's shows Madagascar Live! Operation: Vacation and Shamu Christmas. As an active actor and music director in San Diego I have worked with companies including Legoland, Sea World, San Diego Opera, Lyric at Birch, TAFFEE and have been a featured actor in two local indie films.
I have been immersed in music since the age of 5. Singing along to the radio and cassette tapes that my mom listened to in the car. I started training as a singer during my freshman year in high school and have performed in numerous musicals, concerts, and operas since.
I feel that performance is an integral part of piano and vocal education and will make sure that my students are given ample opportunity to perform, whether it be at an Open Mic Night, or I arrange a recital or musical production to nurture each of my student's performance abilities.
I am on the Executive Board of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, (NATS), and a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). These organizations provide me with the tools to help you succeed in both singing and acting.

Entertaining, provocative and inspiring - it's what actors do!
Building from where you are in your training, we will work together to explore your personal strengths, release your creativity, inspire greater confidence and learn to feel comfortable every time you audition or perform. I believe in dedication and discipline, not doctrine.
I have directed over 40 projects for the stage since I moved to San Diego in 1987, produced plays by new writers and reveled in the accomplishments of actors with whom I've worked. I continue to work as an actor on stage and in television.
I was fortunate to attend the High School of Music and Art in New York City - the "Fame" School - then went on to study drama and speech at Syracuse University.
At CalArts, where I earned my MFA in acting, I had the transcendent experience of being lost in a role. Our goal will be to teach you ways to feel that joy when you perform.
"[Mark] has been one of the most positive influences on my playwriting career and in my life in general. He has been wonderfully generous both to me and to a horde of other young (and established) theater artists in sharing his knowledge and talent." Jim Knable, playwright
"Of all the directors who have staged plays for me since 1986, none has contributed so consistently as [Mark] to the quality and growth of the Playwrights Project . . . . He is a caring and reliable colleague, a principled man who believes deeply in the importance of theatre in a civilized world." Deborah Salzer, Founding Director
