Andrew is a graduate of Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music in Hollywood, California with a degree in drum/percussion performance. At Musicians Institute he had the opportunity to study with drum book authors: Ed Roscetti, Chuck Silverman and Gary Hess, as well as World Snare Drum Champion: Rob Carson. He also studied music theory at Bucks County Community College

He first began his drum studies at age 10; playing percussion in school and at 17 began performing and recording drums professionally. He spent a great deal of his time working with local artists in Philadelphia and Manhattan and touring the northeastern states. During his time in Los Angeles he performed in cover bands, jazz/latin groups and for dozens of independent artists. He also had the privilege to work with some well know artists, such as Scott Shriner of Weezer, Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe, and The Blue Man Group.

As a percussion instructor, it is my duty to inspire students of all ages to learn and grow in what they want to study, to give them the support they need to discover their own learning process. I wish to share my experience and the information I've collected over many, many years of being a drummer and percussionist.

I started learning drums in the late 1960s and played in my local school concert band, orchestra, jazz band
and district band. In my teens and twenties, I played, toured and recorded with such artists as Aimee Mann and some semi-famous 80s punk and garage bands.

Later, I played with some local Philadelphia R&B artists such as Herb Johnson, Ronnie Walker and Bobby Eli from MFSB.

Lately, I have been playing percussion with the Temple University Night Owls Band and the Roxborough Orchestra.

I continue my drum and percussion studies with Sam Ulano in New York City.

A professional musician and music instructor for over 30 years, Mike has established himself as not only a world class player but also an excellent teacher of all ages and skill levels. He teaches for several area conservatories and hosts master classes on composition, performance, guitar and bass improvisation. Mike now offers lessons in his professional home studio.

I have been playing drums for as long as I can remember! Having come from two very musical parents, music has always been an important and powerful force in my life. The son of a versatile drummer, I was introduced to percussion at a very early age, and can recall being sat behind the drum kit as a toddler. Piano was the first percussion instrument I studied formally for several years in early elementary school. In fourth grade my dad set up some drums in our basement, which quickly led to joining the school band, and soon was taking lessons in both drums and keyboard instruments.
My drum studies continued throughout middle school and high school, where I also started developing my voice, singing in several vocal ensembles, as well as playing in marching band, symphonic band, orchestra, and jazz ensemble. I've been performing and studying music since I was 8, and I can honestly say that music is my life. Music has changed my life in so many ways, and few things give me more joy than sharing that with others.

I've been teaching for six years and in that time have seen my students admitted to some of the country's best music schools. My specialty is keeping lessons exciting, fun, and soulful, never losing sight of the feelings that drew us to music in the first place.

Learning to play an instrument well is challenging, and sometimes frustrating. But having been through rigorous conservatory training myself, I know how to tackle most technical and musical challenges in a streamlined way so that my students can progress quickly and consistently.

I started taking music very seriously in middle school when I began guitar lessons at a local music shop. I was inspired at the time to learn all of my favorite Beatles songs as well as the punk music I was totally obsessed with. At the time I was fortunate enough to have been learning from a college educated musician Dr. Mark Cook, director of Composition and Music Theory at Shepherd University and Gerry Kunkel, Guitar chair at Maryland University. My passion for music grew exponentially from this point on and I spent the next years playing in as many ensembles as possible in school as well as my own bands with friends, a chance for me to work on my own compositions. As my drive for music increased I began taking lessons for other instruments including piano, trombone, and voice. This constant practice and dedication to the study of theory eventually resulted in my acceptance to the University of the Arts in Philadelphia to study jazz guitar performance.

I am a Rutgers University graduate with a B.A in Music Performance. I have played guitar for over 10 years, and currently perform all over the tri-state area in a rock band called "Cotton". I teach several students ages 5-40 right now, and have taught students how to play guitar for several years. Ever since my mother played the Beatles on her stereo when I was very young, I have always been attracted to music. This attraction morphed into a passion when I started taking piano lessons at age eight. I soon moved to Cello and then Guitar, which I consider my primary instrument in terms of proficiency and expression. In high school, I expanded my musical boundaries even further by playing guitar in one of the school’s jazz bands as well as playing percussion in the symphonic band and playing both snare and bass drum in the marching band. I decided that I wanted to pursue music as a career, so I majored in music education at the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University. I not only learned many methods and strategies involving music learning theory, but I also improved my overall musicianship and understanding of musical theory. I have been teaching private guitar and drum lessons for the past 5 years. I have worked with students of all ages and abilities, and have loved every minute of it! After High School I went to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where I studied Contemporary Writing and Production, and was a Guitar Principal. I have been playing guitar all my life and have been playing drum set and concert percussion since 4th grade. For a while I was working at the Setai Recording Studio on Miami Beach and had a good time, but I found what my true calling was happened to be teaching. There is nothing I would rather be doing than teaching, so it makes each and every student I have very special to me. I will gladly teach all styles, but I happen to specialize in Rock and Blues. I am also a professional songwriter and am willing to teach specialized songwriting lessons as well.

I am professional musician with a wide variety of experience in both teaching and performing. I have lived in several major cities and have gotten to play with some of the best groups. I am currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in music at Rutgers University. I received a Bachelor’s and Masters Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and have studied with some of the top teachers in the United States.
