Drum, Music Performance, Music Theory, Percussion
Music is my life and air. I started playing the drums when I was 12 years old. I played in every band and music ensemble I could throughout junior high, high school, and college. I have played in bands outside of school with music styles ranging from Rock, Punk, Hardcore, Metal, and Hip Hop. Since 2008, I have been teaching private drum set lessons and marching percussion to students of all ages and backgrounds.
Recently, I attended the University of Texas at Arlington where I furthered my education in music teaching, music theory, performance, and percussion. I am also an experienced Djembe and Didgeridoo performer. Teaching and encouraging others in music comes naturally to me, and my degree in Music Business supports knowing how to prepare lessons and curriculum so students succeed.
Bass Guitar, Drum, Piano, Singing, Music Recording, Music Theory, Songwriting, Organ
I started playing recognizable melodies on the piano at 18 months old. At that time I was told that I even had perfect pitch. By age 5, my mother started giving me classical, gospel, and improvisational lessons. I was one of her 50 students until my senior year in high school. Through elementary, junior high, and high school, I received a lot of performance experience from school marching/concert bands, choirs, church choirs, piano concerts, band/choral conducting, and composing.
I received my BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington; through college and to the present, I have received over 25 years of performing/directing experience from overseeing two mega-church music ministries. At these ministries, I served as the department head, responsible for lead piano, directing, arranging, worship leading, and departmental oversight.
I have produced 7 personal instrumental projects, and I have produced and recorded over 40 projects for other local, regional, and international artists. I currently travel with national, jazz, recording saxophonist, Joseph Vincelli, and my personal band Zamar. We have performed with a number of acts from Kirk Franklin, Kirk Whalum, Boney James, Fred Hammond, and many more.
As an instructor, I have been blessed with an ability to be relatable, relevant, musical, creative, fun, and engaging. I understand the language of music as a performer, and instructor, but most importantly, I value the ability to help the student find their own path of learning the joy of making music vocally and instrumentally. With over 10 years of private teaching experience and 25 years of group experience, I have gained a wealth of knowledge on how to be instructive and personal with the young or older beginner, intermediate and even advanced players. Let's grow together musically.

Hello, I’m Thomas, but most people call me T. I started taking private drum lessons when I was 6 years old from Lucy Flohr. Ms. Lucy was one of the most influential and important people in my development not only as a drummer but in life as well (she’s the lady in my profile picture). I met her at 6, and we’re still friends 30 years later.
After Lucy I started lessons with professors at UNT (which in those days was NTSU). My glam band, Skin Deep, was getting major record deal offers, but it was 1992 when grunge took over. So under guidance of our attorney we didn’t sign any offers. With my high hopes deflated and a musically defeated heart I had to make a change. So instead of going to UNT to study music which I had been being groomed to do, I chose to go to Austin and attend UT. I graduated from UT in 1997 with a degree in psychology and decided to move to Los Angeles to follow my dream. My band broke up about a month later, but I formed a new one (Milkweed…which morphed into a blue grass band after I left, now called River Rouge) and got an indy record deal. We released "Milkweed....For Breakfast" on my birthday in 2000, and we did lots of regional touring for the next 3 years. Then I moved back to Dallas and joined JackAcid. We released "Life Through a Crazy Straw" on another independent label and toured regionally for a few years. Next was Crossing Ellum, which was fronted by Matthew JC (Founder of Emmy winning Small Guy Music and “Matthew JC and the All Stars”). I currently play in a heavy rock band named Social Jab.
I started teaching classmates in 7th grade and continued through high school. Then I took a hiatus from teaching with just a student here and there during college and my touring days. Now I'm back to teaching more than I'm playing, and I love it! I believe music is a phenomenal gift to us all in every facet, from listening, to learning, to creating, to performing, and it’s an honor to be able to share my knowledge and experiences to help others learn to appreciate the blessing of music.
My name is Eric. I have been drumming for 23 years, and professionally for about 17 years now. I studied Music Education at TCU (GO FROGS!!), and received my degree in 2000. While at TCU, I participated in drumline, jazz ensemble, wind symphony, orchestra, percussion ensemble, and basketball band. I was able to visit/perform at many wonderful places with various ensembles, including The Montreux Jazz Festival, The Verbier Festival in Switzerland, Carnegie Hall, and Mexico. It does pay to be a "band nerd!"
Drum, Music Theory, Saxophone
I have played alto saxophone since 2001 and drums since 2004. After I realized that music is what I wanted to pursue as a career, I attended Cedar Valley College where I studied music theory I-IV, jazz standards, improvising and classical repertoire. Through my studies I have learned various ways of teaching including slow practice, repetition, call and response as well as tricks that make learning fun.
"Steven is very professional and extremely helpful. He always has a smile on and is serious about helping you phrase the music. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
"It's been really exciting so far! Jordan has been so helpful, so knowledgeable. I could not have found a better instructor and I'm getting better and better every day."
"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
