Music is the means to create a portal into our souls, so that we may see each other for who and what we are, not merely as what we do. I want to help foster those young, middle-aged, and not-as-young how to tap into their own soul portals through music so that they may find others' as well. I believe that in order to entertain others with your voice or your instrument playing, one must first be able to entertain oneself - all the while having fun doing it! As a recent graduate of the University of California, Davis with a double major in Music History & Ethnomusicology and African-American & African Studies; a former co-host of the popular hip-hop radio show ATF Radio: All Things Fresh on KDVS 90.3FM; a former Music Director of The Afterglow of UC Davis; and a current Vocal Music Performance graduate student at the University of Redlands, I have come in contact and learned from a vast amount of different musicians and professionals. A classically-trained bass-baritone with roots in R&B, Soul, Rock, Pop, and Jazz, I have aspirations to help each and every student realize their full musical potential.

I am from a musical family of several generations, all the way back to my great grandfather! I am the niece of acclaimed Jazz Trombonist Urbie Green, the cousin and ( I'm told ) the first classical piano inspiration of award-winning Jazz Pianist Jesse Green.
Among my other relatives have been numerous less-known, yet greatly accomplished professional musicians, from famous name swing bands to New Orleans jazz. Stars and glamour in the music business have been part of me from the time I was a gleam in my parents' eyes.
Although my family's renown is in the jazz idiom, I studied classical piano, sheet music and singing for musical theater from pre-K through high school. My experience has included playing an electric keyboard and singing vocals in a professional, working band.
After playing with bands in high school, as a college music major, making good grades was a piece of cake! I was invited to phi theta kappa honors society, graduated with honors and, with a 4.0 grade point average, was offered an opportunity to study in the professions.
Being from such a musical family, the idea of learning an academic profession sounded exciting, so I graduated University, served an internship, and passed professional licensing exams before I learned that being a " pro " did not guarantee financial security.
Due to the economy, I made a decision to return to my roots. I have dusted off the piano and refreshed my music skills so I may teach quality, private lessons to dedicated students. The variety and extent of my knowledge in music, and my family values, will help you learn what you want !

I started singing professionally at the age of fourteen. I have had leading roles in semi-professional theatre productions since I was seventeen. I have also been assistant director, musical director, choreographer, costumer and writer for many productions from West Side Story to My Fair Lady to Camelot. In the theatre I have worked with and trained children and adults of all ages. I have also conducted summer camps that were theatre workshops for children. I was a school teacher at a Charter school for eight years and I taught music and drama to children from Kindergarten to 12th grade. I have been giving voice lessons for more than twenty years. I tailor my programs based on the needs of my students. I am passionate about music and I love being able to share that with other individuals who are passionate about music. I have worked with children and adults who told me "I cannot sing" and have shown them that, once you understand how your voice works, you can do things you never dreamed you could do. I will work hard to help anyone who has the love and determination to sing to improve and become a better singer.
One of my students was accepted to AMDA in New York and several of my students have won various competitions.

I fully enjoy teaching music and theater to others and spreading the art of performance, reaching out to all generations. I believe in customizing every lesson to be unique for my students in a way that will serve their individual needs. I teach with patience and encouragement and believe that students prosper and improve much more from a positive experience. My lessons are intended to be fun and influential in a positive light that can lead to a rewarding career, hobby, or just for personal enjoyment!
Every since I was a little girl, I have been devoted to the arts. When I began college, I knew that music was my path. As a music major I developed a deeper understanding of music theory, piano, voice, and theater. I recieved my A.A. in Music at College of the Desert and my Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Redlands- which I attended on a music scholarship. I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women the Musical, Seussical the Musical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer at churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to perform and study music because performing is a part of who I am and I could never live without it.
With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life then they WILL achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!

Hello there, my name is Jason H. and I am here to give quality lessons to eager people. I have 22 years of hands on experience that I can offer my students and I am more than happy to do so. I have spanned across the entire musical spectrum regarding styles and I have been in front and behind the scenes of the music industry. I am also a husband and a father, so I can relate to boys, girls, young and old! I have been playing drums since I was 8 years old, recording since I was 16 and running a sound production company since I was 22. Other interests of mine are History, Hockey, Baseball, (I still play both when I have time) Hiking, Bike riding, Videography, Teaching and Parenting.
I started playing gigs at 14 with my first serious band “Imperial Dub” featuring the current singer and guitarist of “Inhale” and we played all over So Cal for a few summers. At 18 I went to college and devoted 60 units to music, audio and video production. From 18-22 I learned about all kinds of music that I had never given a chance to hear or play and I absorbed every bit of it. I rented a studio at the Life arts Center and played/recorded music till the wee hours and grew exponentially. At 23 I had went to Jamaica and took a drummers job by accident, I ended up playing 4 nights while on vacation. When I got back to the states I ended up starting a Bob Marley cover band, one night I man approached me about being in a backing band for Jamaican singer and I agreed. Since then I have backed Andrew Beez , Rankin Joe and various others for periods of time. During the same time I was approached to start giving lessons and the momentum built up with my happy students, I was teaching only in home then. I also was blessed to be a part of a rhythm section named “Peanut Butter and Jam”, this is my favorite project I have been a part of because it is always fresh and changing. Later I filled in for “Ready for Vegas” for one year before the band went on Hiatus and I am working on new stuff with the Guitarist and Bass player. I have filled in for "Inhale" recently and catch myself occasionally playing a Jazz/Funk gig here and there. I have my degree in history/law at UC Riverside, I actively work in the Professional Audio and Video field as a Director of an Auditorium and raise my children during the day.

I also attended the University Of Redlands where I studied piano pedagogy.
I studied voice with Suzann Luckather of the Alhambra Academy Of Music in Los Angeles and also with Maestra Marya Basaraba, director of the California Philharmonic 200 voice chorus.
I further studied with the international vocal coach and concert pianist, Armin Gazulamian.
My current vocal coach is the world famous tenor, Guiltiero Negrini of the Metropolitan Opera House New York.
