Chris S. Temecula, CA

Subjects Taught

Bass Guitar, Cello, Classical Guitar, Fiddle, Flamenco Guitar, Guitar, Mandolin, Music Performance, Music Theory, Piano, Ukulele, Violin

About Me

Hi there! My name is Chris and I've been playing music my entire life and I believe that with the right attitude and environment anyone can achieve musical greatness!

I was born into a musical family and have studied classical piano since I was 4 years old! I am very well versed in music theory and proper technique, with an emphasis on avoiding player's injuries, as well as a great knowledge of classical Pieces for any skill level.

Alas!

As a young teenager I grew rebellious and learned how to play the electric guitar and have since sought teachers outside my family to learn modern styles and 5 other instruments!! I have also worked toward a music degree and have made music the center of my life.

Classical music is not everyone's passion but a good practice routine, attitude and environment is always a good thing to have as these things are important regardless of your favorite music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are held with a fun and relaxed attitude. Learning music should always be enjoyable and a good attitude and love for music is cultured and encouraged.

Lessons are structured just like a practice session should be. We will begin with a warm-up exercise designed to acquaint you with the proper technique to meet your personal musical goals. the next activities are highly personalized, but is usually something like reading music or a music theory game. These activities are things that are good for you but may not be your favorite part of learning music. They will, however, go a long way toward your better understanding of how your favorite music is structured.

Examples could be learning about 12 bar blues, common strum patterns (for guitar), scales, sight-reading, or music analysis.

We will spend the rest of class learning and practicing an activity of your choice. This is usually a song but can be anything you wish to improve upon. this is usually a long-term goal of yours. *I've always wanted to learn......*

By structuring our lessons the same as how you will practice, and by keeping good notes, it will be easy for you to take on practice at home and achieve all of your musical goals!

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students should have their own guitar/piano/keyboard etc. Guitar/violin students should also have a music stand and tuner to keep at home. I will bring picks, spare tuner, music, and handouts.

*** Specialties ***
I primarily specialize in classical piano in styles such as Muzio Clementi and Frederic Chopin. I also play Bach and various Spanish classical guitar pieces. I have also extensively studied electric guitar in Blues such ZZ Top, Metal such as Metallica, and rock such as Led Zeppelin. I have also studied Irish and Celtic folk music for instruments such as Mandolin and Violin.

Drew B. Oceanside, CA

Subjects Taught

Bass Guitar, Cello, Classical Guitar, Flamenco Guitar, Guitar, Music Theory, Piano, Ukulele, Upright Bass

About Me

I began playing the cello over twenty years ago in grade school. I soon expanded into other instruments, picking up first the guitar, then the string bass. I continued to play stringed instruments in multiple ensembles through college, but chose piano as my concentration. It was in college that I began professionally teaching and performing. Such varied musical experience has made me a very well rounded musician and allowed me to use diferent approaches and techniques in my teaching.

*** Lesson Details ***
I always base my teaching style and curriculum on the individual student. I love teaching students who are enthusiastic about learning the complex language of music and wish to be pushed to meet their goals. I also love teaching students who want a more laid back experience, perhaps only wishing to learn a few chords to enjoy playing and singing their favorite songs. I find most students to be somewhere in between.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide method books once I have met with the student and assessed the best direction to take

*** Specialties ***
love teaching jazz, when they get there.

Celino R. San Diego, CA

Subjects Taught

Acoustic Guitar, Classical Guitar, Flamenco Guitar, Guitar, Musical Theater, Music Performance, Music Recording

About Me

Celino R. is the youngest member of the world-renowned classical guitar quartet, "Los Romeros" but he has proved to be a true concert veteran with numerous brilliant performances. With the introduction of Celino into the quartet in 1990, their music has spanned three generations of virtuosity. After Celino's quartet debut, The New York Times observed: "One of the enduring mysteries of musical talent is how skills seem to flow genetically from musical parent to musical child. In the R. family, the flow has been swift and unimpeded. The virtuosity of the four R's was uniformly solid and finely considered, as if these techniques had derived from a single mold".

In their review The Ann Arbor News declared Celino as "a young prince among three kings of the guitar". Celino's journey on the guitar began at the young age of three, under the careful tutelage of his legendary grandfather, Celedonio, and his famous father, Celin. Celino's early start in the instrument is the same pedagogical process that has established the cornerstone of the R. technique.

Celino can also be credited with bringing new audiences to the world of classical guitar, as he is extremely popular amongst college audiences throughout the United States. His performances at fine arts series in major cities include the Metropolitan Museum and Carnegie Hall in New York, the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, the Teatro Real in Madrid and Palacio de la Música in Barcelona, the Herkulessaal, Gewandhaus, and Musikhalle in Germany and the Musikverein in Vienna. His performances have also brought him to stages in Copenhagen, Paris, London, Madrid, Seoul, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Milan, Vienna, Salzburg, Warsaw, and Turkey. A recent performance of Rodrigo's "Concerto de Aranjuez" at one of the most prestigious music festivals of Spain, "Cuevas de Nerja", brought him tremendous acclaim as one of the greatest virtuosos of the guitar. Highlights of the summer of 2002 included a very successful performance with Maestro Lockhart and the San Francisco Symphony in Davies Hall.
