About Me

I'm a 27 year old voice teacher, graduating from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor's Degree in Musical Theatre Performance. I have been teaching voice for 3 years now and I couldn't be happier with my career! I love music, and I love being with children, so being a voice teacher is the best fit for me. I have participated in many theater companies in Rhode Island, most recently appearing as the lead female role in Rhode Island College's "Pippin". I have had ten years of vocal training with several voice teachers, so I know what it is like to be the student. Being a student for so long, I know what works and is helpful, and what doesn't work. I look forward to my lessons as a teacher, and I know you will look forward to our lessons too!

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm a patient, easy going person and I like to make my students feel comfortable. Our lesson will always be FUN! It will also be productive. We will work on areas that the student wants to improve on, and I will offer constructive criticism, all with a positive outlook. I provide recitals for my students several times a year. You will have the chance to show family and friends what you have learned from our lessons!

During lessons, I like to focus on the students strengths', and I will find songs that highlight the students best qualities in their voice. Our lessons will start with warm-ups, and after your voice is ready to go, we will learn and practice songs that I have selected for you with your interests in mind. The songs that I choose will be from my vocal books and I will provide you with copies of the sheet music, and also a CD of the songs so you can practice in between lessons. As our lessons progress, you will be able to sing with a stronger, healthier voice and overall, just sound better!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have a keyboard and I will bring that to our lessons. I will also provide the student with the music we study and a folder to keep it in.

*** Specialties ***
I have a lot of experience in musical theater singing. I love many styles of music, so I'm sure after finding out what you are interested in, I could find songs we can work on that you will love to learn and perfect!

*** Lesson Details ***
Not only am I a trained singer, I am also an actor. I understand what it is to communicate and show emotion while singing. Before you can do this, you must also learn healthy singing technique. I will help blend the two.

The first half of each lesson will be dedicated to vocal exercises with the second half to songs I recommend or from your own repertoire. My recommendations may be from a different style of music than you are accustomed to, but I will be working towards helping you sing the style you want to sing.

Every voice is different. As a teacher I want to make sure that my students understand and are comfortable with what they are feeling and hearing. While I am an easy going person, I work very hard to help students find the right path to healthy vocal production.

About Me

I am a recent graduate of Rhode Island College with a degree in both Music and Musical Theatre. With my music degree, I strongly focused on musical theatre pedagogy as well as classical music. I also trained extensively in dance and acting which I believe has helped me tremendously when teaching voice. I also have studied piano for the past 10 years and continue to train in voice.

My approach to teaching, whether it be voice or piano, is one with care and concern for the student. Each student is an individual and will take in knowledge in different ways. I always like to cater my teaching to whatever the students needs are. This requires observation and experimentation on my part. When I find what works, it makes for a more productive lesson for my student and I. In voice, I have a strong passion for musical theatre and contemporary genres. My focus is on students learning contemporary genres in the most healthy but stylistically accurate way. I believe the singer has to be multi-faceted to have a flourishing career in the world of music. To just sing one genre is unrealistic in this day in age. I want to help my students grow to be diverse singers who have a healthy technique that will get them through any career they may pursue.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide music. Student is required to have a full size keyboard or piano.

*** Specialties ***
I have a main focus in musical theatre and contemporary style singing. I believe the versatile singer should be able to sing any genre with proper technique while being stylistically correct. I also like to incorporate my acting knowledge into lessons, helping students not only sing but act out the song. I also can teach classical voice.

About Me

With an Ivy-league education and over a decade of singing and performing experience, I can offer both a skillful and intelligent approach to honing your instrument. I sing professionally with Opera Providence and Marley Bridges Theatre Co. in Newport. My program credentials include Interlochen Center for the Arts and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London.

Lessons will focus on what you desire. Unlike many teachers, I won't force you to study something you don't enjoy. I think there are many approaches to healthy and good singing, and I will tailor your coaching to fit the styles you enjoy performing. If you want to belt Carrie Underwood or Train, sing soulfully like Adele or Bruno Mars, bring the house down like Idina Menzel or Neil Patrick Harris, or create immortal art like Anna Netrebko or Pavarotti - I have the breadth of experience and training to help you achieve your dreams.

*** Travel Equipment ***
In my home I use a piano, as well as books and sheet music, and often CDs or tracks from my computer and speakers. If I traveled to a student's home, I would expect them to have at least a piano.

*** Specialties ***
Although I teach opera and classical voice as well, my true specialty is the belt voice for pop singing. Few teachers teach belting, but I teach it well. You cannot sing pop music without knowing how to belt, and I specialize in teaching this technique.

About Me

Around age three I realized what a singing voice was, during the Christmas Season. By age nine I saw my first performance: Phantom of the Opera. The next thing I knew, I was claiming to my friend's parents that I was an opera singer, screaming on their kitchen tables.

As I grew older, I harnessed this directionless passion and began taking voice lessons. I absolutely fell in love, and in fear, of the art as I watched myself consistently develop, and tried to process what pressures came along with the responsibility of cultivated a talent. Finally, by the end of my high school years I had to make a decision - logic or passion? I chose passion. I went on to receive my BA in Voice Performance at Providence College and then immediately into The Boston Conservatory for MM in Classical Voice Performance.

After years of schooling, stage experience, coachings, lessons and more, it wasn't until I put the music aside for a little while and truly dug into myself, as a person that my true voice began to unfold. I decided to focus on developing my mind, body and spirit through nutrition, exercise, and sleep patterns, as well as practices such as creative thinking journals, gratitude journals, meditation, and so much more. Suddenly, without my focus even being so, my voice began to mold and develop naturally. My confidence, my self love, my range, my creativity - all of it began to grow through this process of self examination and cultivation. At this point, I said to myself, "Why is it that I went through over 10 years of dedicated performance and schooling and no one told me these simple, holistic realities?" Vocal issues, perceived fears and negative mental set backs that I had been working on for years in practice rooms and through reading books and listening to lectures began to fall away with ease. It was then that I realized that my calling was to teach young artists the truth about being a vocalist, as well as a performer.

In my studio I teach the entire person, not just the voice. I will touch upon your lifestyle, your sleep cycles, your mind set, your nutrition - so on and so forth. We will uproot, integrate and mold YOU along with fine tuning your voice. Singing is much more vulnerable and sensitive than warm up exercises and repertoire. It is a mind set. It is a lifestyle. It is a sport. It is you. I am here to bring you out, and unleash the voice within.
