Hello, my name is Jason! I have been surrounded by music for my entire life. My father, a Berklee School of Music graduate, is an accomplished guitarist who introduced me to many forms of music as a child. At age seven he introduced me to Ringo Starr’s drum solo in “The End” by The Beatles and I knew that I wanted to learn to play percussion. Since that time, I have studied percussion theory and technique extensively with Shawn Green and Kevin Fortunato, both Berklee graduates. I studied film scoring, music theory, music history, and electronic composition at the Cambridge School of Weston under Gustavo-Assis Brasil (another Berklee graduate) and Michael Weinstein (the school’s music director and Berklee professor with an extensive list of degrees and ...

To start, I supply all written teaching material. Drum students should have sticks and eventually brushes. I can provide some type of drums, depending on student desires and needs. Students wanting drum set lessons should have a drum set, unless they study at my facility. Piano students should have a keyboard or piano with full size keys.
*** Specialties ***
I also teach marimba and specialize in drum set, world drumming, and steel drumming.
I use a lot of self composed handouts to benefit students' needs, as well the Alan Dawson application methods of Ted Reed's Syncopation book for drum set.
I am 25 years old, who has a strong desire to teach, I have the ability to explain music in many different ways, I work well with people, I have a lot of patience, ability to communicate, highly adaptable, always look at the positives, and very energetic. I have a Bachelors Degree in Media Communications with a Minor in Music from Anna Maria College. Over the past 14 years I've played drums/percussion for every type of band from concert bands, to jazz ensembles, to christian rock bands, etc. Also for the past 3 years I've taught private lessons to students of all ages.

I've played them all!
Berklee College of Music graduate, Aaron M., has been teaching students of all ages for over 12 years.
"I love watching young musicians grow into seasoned players and have had tremendous success with all my students. I believe that learning songs and playing music is a critical element in the learning process of becoming a good drummer/pianist, and musician. This is why I bring a powered PA speaker, mp3 player, and (sometimes) a guitar to my lessons for the student to play along with and learn familiar songs. Over the years I've learned to strike a balance between Reading/Rudiments and Playing/having fun, so as to maintain students interests and growth."

I am a 20 year old college student beginning to offer drum/percussion lessons. I began playing and taking lessons when I was 9 years old and continued to until I was 17. I have played the drums/percussion in many bands, festivals, parades, and fundraisers over the years. I can teach music reading, sight reading and rudiment building. I am willing to teach beginners and intermediate players and can even provide a few music books to students which will significantly help them develop as drummers! If your kids want to learn any form of drumming or percussion whether it be rock, hip hop, or orchestra band music, that is no problem! I am very excited to get to know new students and teach them how to perform as a true musician! Lessons can be held in my own home where I have a full drum kit and ...
My particular area of specialization, students interested in studying within this broad range of instruments can study with me on drumset, hand percussion (and stick percussion including timbales, cowbells and agogo), mallet instruments, and classical percussion. We will study technique, time, tone, tuning, authentic performance within a range of genres, sight-reading, functioning within an ensemble (including orchestrating parts, musical support of the piece being performed, and working within a rhythm section), and improvisation.
I have extensive training (including a doctorate) and experience as a performing musician, ensemble director, and teacher including 13 years of private instrumental instruction. My primary instruments are drumset, mallet percussion, and hand percussion, and I have additional experience teaching piano, bass guitar, and jazz harmony and improvisation.
