Piano, Singing, Broadway Singing, Music Performance, Music Theory
I love people of all ages. And I love helping them discover what beautiful things they can create, especially in the world of music. Music is such a powerful way to express ourselves, and I love helping others learn how to do this and really enjoy it.
I have played piano since I was three. When I was able to read at age four, I began lessons, and the rest is history. I graduated from Wheaton Conservatory of Music with a degree in Piano Performance, and completed a Master's degree in Piano Performance at University of Redlands. I love to perform, have written several songs, with and without lyrics, produced three CD's all with original music I perform, and am now in the process of creating a fourth CD featuring several classical works for piano. I have just completed writing a musical and am looking forward to having it produced. I love seeing people get touched with music and love to create and help others perform music that really speaks to the heart. It's my passion.
I teach all styles of music, and love teaching children, adults, and everything in between!
I have also sung in various choirs of all types and accompanied them on the piano as well for many years. I was recently Musical Director for Sound of Music where I taught beginning and intermediate singers how to train their voices and use proper techniques. It was a great success.
My goal for the student is for them to feel good about themselves as a musician and to be able to express themselves and reach the highest level of performance possible for them.
My students perform regularly in recitals and competitions, and we have a lot of fun! Lessons are a great experience for us all.

Hello! My name is Allen and I've been playing guitar for 13 years, and teaching for the past 8. I've been performing and writing since the age of 16 with bands in many styles. I'm originally from Santa Maria, CA, and I obtained my knowledge of music theory, performance, and songwriting skills from taking private lessons in the central coast at a place called Coelho's Academy of Music. Our head instructor, Jerry Coelho, was a student of the late Howard Roberts and was one of the first graduating students to who helped to establish Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT), currently known as The Musicians Institute. After dedicating 4 years of private lessons under Jerry and his other top instructors, my hard work payed off and I was given the opportunity take students of my own. For the following two years, I've managed to consistently teach 40 students per week. I decided to move forward and take my musical experience with me to San Diego, where I currently teach, write, record, and perform my music with others who have similar goals and aspirations. I am playing with two bands at this moment. One called Science Fiction Jazz, and the other Foreign Film. These bands have given me the opportunity to perform with local and big named artists such as D.J. Artistic, Gary Wilson of Stones Throw Records, The Aristocrats, Terry Bozzio, Alan Holdsworth, and Tony Levin. As a teacher, I'm here to help you with where you want to be with guitar. Whether it's rock, pop, funk, hip hop, reggae, jazz, blues, indie, folk, and country, I can help you with the technical and theoretical side of things.
Bass Guitar, Guitar, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Songwriting, Ukulele
I have been composing, recording and performing music since 2000. I first started playing in 1996 on the trumpet, but it wasn’t until I got my first bass that I became a musician. Since then, music has been my everything.
I was accepted as a bassist into the Applied Music Program at Mesa College where I studied with local legend Bob Magnusson. I studied music theory and ear training and played in classical and jazz ensembles for two years.
I have been working as a musician in San Diego for the last 7 years. Most of my work has been as a bassist in a variety of styles such as blues, latin fusion and afrobeat. I also play solo acts on guitar and ukulele. I have played in cover bands, but get the most satisfaction out of making original music with friends.
I am open to music of all styles and have played everything from punk to funk, Bach to Sam Cooke. I still love to rock out, but most enjoy music that is simple yet interesting.
Piano, Clarinet, Music Performance, Oboe
I have been an instrumental performer for 20 years. As a child, I began my classical training on the piano. At age 10, I began studying the oboe. Throughout my musical career, I have always performed with the highest level ensembles and have received high marks and rewards over the years. Because of my dedication to and passion for music, I chose a career as a music educator. I followed that path and graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Music in 2008 with a B.A. in Music Education.
I now have been teaching music for 6 years. During my junior year of college, I started teaching privately as an oboe instructor for middle and high school students. Upon graduating in 2008, I moved to Tampa, Florida where I taught elementary music full time and continued to teach oboe and woodwind lessons privately. I also taught elementary music and private lessons in Dallas, Texas before moving to California. During my career, I have helped hundreds of students prepare for and have success in dozens of performances. I am excited for you to be another student for me to guide on a musical journey!
