Coaching on stage presence, confidence. Playing to the audience is different than simply playing the notes!
Out of all instruments, the sound of the violin is the closest to the human voice. Small wonder it is one of the oldest instruments still being played and it's tones can fit in to almost any style of music. Learning the violin from me goes far beyond technique. My training includes reading music notation, lead sheets, and playing by ear. All of these are skills that you can learn depending on what your goals are. A combination of these skills combined with technique on violin will give you a foundation of music knowledge that will serve you regardless of what style of music you want to play. Styles that I have studied specifically are: Classical, Irish, Bluegrass, Rock and Symphonic Metal. In addition to playing violin, I write and arrange music. My song "The Burning Plain" ...
I majored in music performance. We'll learn to Breath deeply, calm your nerves, and be a conduit for the music.
I'm a multi-instrumentalist from the Northwest with lots of love for teaching people to groove. I got my bachelors in music from Whitman College with an emphasis in Jazz Performance. I can teach anyone to rock, swing or get unreasonably funky. Lessons can be casual or serious and I'm down to tell you how to get to Carnegie Hall or onto the stage at the local jam. *** Lesson Details *** I like to teach my students what they want to learn! I'm always game for setting up a fun path to being able to play your favorite songs as fast as possible. I don't scold or shame and having a blast is the name of my game. I can teach you to improvise, read music, become a strummer or virtuoso, it's all up to you. *** Studio Equipment *** Lessons in the basement studio, piano, guitars, amps, hand ...
I've performed with bands playing just about every style of music over the last 13 years, from rock, jazz, and classical to country, metal and even Eastern European folk music! I can help you become comfortable performing in front of an audience, work to develop stage presence and provide countless lessons that I've learned the hard way over the years.
I knew I wanted to be a professional guitar player from the first time I picked up an electric guitar over 14 years ago. I started taking private lessons as soon as I got my first guitar, and without the crucial guidance and encouragement I received early on I certainly would not be the guitarist I am today, and that old guitar might even be collecting dust in a closet somewhere. Since I began teaching 8 years ago my goal has been to provide that same encouragement to beginning students and to help them realize that no matter what their ambitions are, they can be achieved with enough practice and they can have fun along the way! When I started high school I realized there was a lot more to playing guitar than the hard rock and blues songs I had been learning up until then, so I ...
Music performance includes the methods of bringing a piece to an audience. It includes acting, body language, tone and expression in the voice. It may also include discussions of what the song means to the performer and how they would like to share that - from standing and singing thru gestures and interpretive dance.
I have a Master’s in Opera Performance from the Boston and New England Conservatories as well as graduating from Vocal Performance programs at Boston University and Western Washington University. I have sung professionally with Boston Lyric Opera, Children’s Theater Companies, churches and synagogue and have toured on the east coast as well as Athens, Greece. Premiering new music is a specialty - I can help you prepare your pieces for auditions. My students have successful auditions for college opera and music theater programs, and as choir soloists. Students gain a larger vocal range and an easy, natural way of singing whether it is in a rock band, choir or as a soloist. Together we find the joy of singing while building a solid technique. I also work with small children as a ...

Nicole received her training at Portland State in 2014 where she received a degree in music education. There, she learned the basics of many different instruments, sang in choir, focused on classical voice, developed classroom management, and trained in the Kolday method. Nicole's teaching style is compassionate, energetic, and fun. She believes that all children and adults have the capacity to play instruments, dance, move, and sing with the natural abilities that are inside all of us. Nicole brings this mentality into her lessons by adapting to the individual. Whether they learn aurally, kinesthetically, visually, or other, she will personalize her teaching methods to better reach the students. Her main objective is to foster an environment that promotes a life long love and ...
