Piano, Music Performance, Music Theory, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone
As a younger brother at the age of five, I began studying the piano because my older sister did. After my foundation in music strengthened I fell in love with the trumpet. At first, each note took time to develop and I enjoyed the challenge. The trumpet allowed me to travel all over the Southeast later in life and even to China with a 1940's Radio Show. I enjoyed many top-level bands the kindled my love and passion for good music. I want to share that kindling with my students in a nurturing and guiding situation, just like my teachers gave me.
I used to go to lessons and become so motivated and inspired that I thought I could change the world. I always knew that I would want to give back exactly that. As my performance opportunities grew into venues like Churchill Grounds, The Eyedrum, The Rialto, and The Variety Playhouse in Atlanta and Radio City Music Hall and Flushing Town Hall in New York, my fire for wanting to develop my teaching did also. I was always thinking back to what my old teachers gave me, inspiration. I then understood that inspiration is the key to success in life.
Ilana F., from Long Island, New York, is an undergraduate student at NYU studying French horn performance. Her experience includes a variety of classical and musical theatre works. She has played in the orchestra pit for productions such as Beauty and the Beast, Bye Bye Birdie, The Wizard of Oz, Kiss Me, Kate, Cinderella, and Into the Woods.
Ilana has performed with the Greenwich Village Orchestra, New York All-State Symphony Orchestra, C.W. Post Summer Chamber Music Festival Orchestra, NYU Symphony, NYU Brass Choir, NYU Concert Band, and participates in the newly founded wind ensemble at NYU, The West Fourth Wind Ensemble.
Ilana currently studies with the principal horn of The Metropolitan Opera, Joseph Anderer. When not playing horn, she enjoys revisiting her roots as a piano player and spends some time arranging. She aspires to someday reach the orchestra pits of Broadway and beyond.
With her studies with the world renown Anderer and as well as her performance experience, Ilana makes a wonderful horn teacher who can teach her students the importance of not just being a great horn player, but to be a great musician as well.

My life revolves around music in all of its forms. I have studied piano since the age of 6 while singing ever since I knew how to make sound. Throughout my lifetime, I have been taught by some of the most influential teachers, and it is my goal to become one in your lifetime.
I began participating in theater at an early age. Once In high school, I had my first job as a Drama Teacher at Saltworks Young Actors Studio where I taught Improvisation, Monologues and Musical Theater to students ages 6 thru 16.
I went to Point Park University where I received a BA in Musical Theater in 2006. Throughout College, I was also teaching voice and piano lessons.
As an actor, I have enjoyed many successes. In 2007, I joined the NY Public Theater’s three night, 40th anniversary concert of HAIR at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The following summer, I was a member of the cast in a full mounted production in their 2008 Shakespeare in the Park season. Shortly after the production transferred to Broadway, the cast performed at the 2009 Tony Awards and took home the Tony for Best Revival.
During the run of Hair, I was entered into the Broadway Beauty Pageant, where male cast members from different Broadway shows compete to win the title of "Mr. Broadway". After competing in Talent and Interview; I was crowned Mr. Broadway 2009.
In 2010, I journeyed across the Atlantic with the production to perform HAIR in London’s West End. It was such a joy to have the influence of UK culture and experience the best of their Music and Theater in my time living in London.
Since moving back to America, I began teaching full time and have been a first hand witness to all of my students growing and flourishing throughout their process. It makes me so proud of them!!
