My two greatest passions are music and teaching, so teaching music comes very naturally to me. I am classically trained musician, having played violin for 18 years, viola for 10 years, piano for 8 years, guitar for 3 years and singing for as long as I can remember. I currently sing with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and other notable choirs in the Los Angeles area, while maintaining a humble studio of music students. In addition to experience as a performer of both opera and musical theater, I write and record my own music in a variety of genres (mainly blues/folk/soul). When I was 12 years old I was diagnosed with a nodule (a polyp of tissue on the vocal cords that prevents them from closing completely, caused by vocal strain) and have trained it away simply by learning to sing correctly. Having passed through this experience I am very aware of vocal health, and emphasize it with all my students.

I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English and can speak some Taiwanese, and enjoy teaching students of all ages. With over 10 years of teaching experience, I am able to tailor the speed, curriculum and style of each lesson to the individual. By default, I will teach music in the Suzuki Violin series, but am more than happy to arrange or find violin parts for songs you are interested in!

I like to make my classes fun, and am constantly thinking of new ways to engage young musicians. I help my students fall in love with the music using the Suzuki method - emphasizing constant immersion in music, regular performances, music theory, posture and artistic expression. I grew up in Los Angeles and went on to attend the University of Redlands .While at University, I played in the University Orchestra and a variety of other ensembles. In addition to violin, I also studied jazz guitar, so classical music is definitely not the only musical style I am familiar with.

I am lucky enough to study with Jeanne Skrocki, who is currently the Concertmaster of the Redlands Symphony Orchestra and the Assistant Concertmaster of the Pacific Symphony.

My musical experience with violin is not confined to classical! I also have experience with other styles, including Irish folk music and bluegrass. While classical is my bread and butter, I can take a more rounded approach in terms of exposure to musical styles if desired.

I've played the violin since I was four, have a Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from Indiana University - Bloomington, a well-known music school, and have extensive experience teaching and playing all styles from Baroque, Classical, Romantic periods as well as folk, country, rock and blues genres.

I am a Loyola Marymount University graduate with a B.A. in Music (Violin, Ethnomusicology). I am a firm believer in the therapeutic nature and healing power of music, and only teach it because of how it will change your life! I studied Alexander Technique with Karl Snyder and incorporate physical alignment into every lesson. I am a lover of all music, have performed various types of world and popular music, and teach my students what they love, so as to always keep the create juice flowing! As student and teacher, we will keep the vitality for the instrument when the beginning stages of the instrument can be discouraging. Dayren was fated to be an entertainer. Born in Matanzas, Cuba to a professional musician father and an actress mother, she opted for a musical life and chose to study violin at age 8. Her passion for music has taken her on a journey around the world and across musical styles.
After graduating from the National Art School in Havana, she had extended engagements playing with the National Symphonic Orchestra of Havana and as concertmaster of the Camerata Romeu. Both engagements involved extensive live performance, international touring, recording, and film score work in a range of genres.

Dayren earned her master's in music performance from the University of South Florida in Tampa.

I have a BA in Music Education, and I've been teaching for 13 years (voice, piano, guitar, violin) in classroom and one-on-one settings. I've been complimented on my ability to teach in a way that makes my students learn very quickly. I was classically trained and I excelled in the pop and alternative rock scene. I've toured with choirs throughout China, and the United States (including Carnegie Hall), and I also toured with rock bands in Spain, Mexico, Peru, and throughout the U.S.A.
