Cory is an awesome teacher!

I've studied with Cory for 4 years now, and I just want everyone to know what a great teacher Cory is. I've not only developed immensely in my musical skill, but I've also noticed when I'm working with other musicians that my studies have really set me apart from my peers. Cory has an awesome recording studio with all the professional stuff you'd come to expect in a major studio, Protools HD, Logic 9, a great Mic Pre & Compressor, along with an awesome tube Mic for recording great vocals. I've known Cory for 14 years now, and he's a lot of fun to work with and learn from. I've also been to many of his gigs, and I can assure you he's an awesome performer. Glenn

Cory taught my daughter to play guitar when no one else could!

Cory M is a multi-talented sweetheart of a man.
He’s been a great guitar teacher for my daughter, who has gained knowledge of sight reading and classical guitar while learning to play the folk/indie/classic rock she most enjoys. It’s to Cory’s credit that she’s stuck with these lessons through all the other activities she’s taken up and abandoned.
Cory is also a highly skilled performer and recording artist. I’ve enjoyed listening and dancing to his band playing old favorites and original compositions. He creates CDs of his music and records other artists in an impressive-looking home recording studio – and on top of all this, he’s a great cook and a kind-hearted, generous neighbor. We’re fortunate to have him as a member of our community.

I'm a big fan!

I'm a professional musician, and I entrusted both of my sons to Cory M, and have also recommended him widely to my friends......he gave both of my boys a solid foundation in piano, and when my second one chose guitar, the transition was very smooth. They each started when they were 6 - Cory is great with kids that age, and by the time they started in the school bands, they were well prepared to dive right in.
Cory is an actively working musician and composer, which makes it fun for the kids, and gives them a view on how the material they are studying functions in the real world. He also maintains a high quality home studio, opening up the opportunity for students to gain experience in that realm.
I'm a big fan.

About Taryn

A graduate of Berklee College of Music, I have been writing songs since I learned to sing.
At a young age I began to play piano and violin, training in both the classical and pop genres.
I have been teaching piano lessons since I was 15 years old, when my own teacher had taken on more students than she could handle. Over the years, I have developed a passion and dedication for teaching music. I love to watch my students grow, and am elated to see the pleasure it brings to their own lives. Music is truly the universal language, and everyone should learn to speak it, in whatever form they desire. I am adept at finding my students weaknesses, and making it their strengths.
After graduating college, I relocated to Brooklyn, where I opened my own private music studio, ...

I picked up the fiddle a few years ago. It's much smaller than the bass, but utilizes many of the same principals in performance. I play with my youth orchestra - Santa Monica Youth Orchestra - every week and help the section sound more cohesive.

Once you start shifting a whole bunch, we'll get you off to a more experienced fiddle player.

About Brenton

"Music is the best!" --Frank Zappa

That is the only thing I can claim to know for certain.

My ideals as a teacher are sound control, fun, and community. I teach all of my students how to play their instrument in a manner which they understand and enjoy. I demonstrate how much fun music can be once my student has the facility to create sound freely. And I inspire them to use this gift for bringing people closer together.

Since beginning my musical studies at California State University Northridge, I have been working as a musician in the greater Los Angeles area. Now over a decade later, I continue to perform and teach - enjoying the whole ride wherever it takes me. While my primary instruments are Contrabass and Electric Bass Guitar, I have technical know how on a ...

Travis H. Los Angeles, CA

I teach all levels!

About Travis

I grew up in Los Angeles and went on to attend the University of Redlands .While at University, I played in the University Orchestra and a variety of other ensembles. In addition to violin, I also studied jazz guitar, so classical music is definitely not the only musical style I am familiar with.

I am lucky enough to study with Jeanne Skrocki, who is currently the Concertmaster of the Redlands Symphony Orchestra and the Assistant Concertmaster of the Pacific Symphony.

My musical experience with violin is not confined to classical! I also have experience with other styles, including Irish folk music and bluegrass. While classical is my bread and butter, I can take a more rounded approach in terms of exposure to musical styles if desired.

The best music teacher!!

My 11-year-old son has been taking violin lessons with Travis for a couple months now and loves it! Travis always has a smile on his face, comes on time, and is professional. My son had zero experience with this instrument before; so it was important for me to find a teacher who is patient, and Travis definitely is. He has a good sense for when his students are ready for a little push or need some extra attention in some spots. I highly recommend him!
Mira W. Los Angeles, CA

The rock of my teaching umbrella, I have been teaching violin for several years with students ranging from 4 to 70. There is nothing like studying violin to learn how to refine our use of the body from posture to self-expression. But let's face it -- violin is a difficult instrument! Like my piano lessons, I use a variety of skills and approaches from my research that set me apart from mainstream violin pedagogy. I enjoy incorporating my martial arts training into my approach to strengthen the mind-body balance and empower students towards self-learning.

About Mira

After twenty years of violin and viola performance under the tutelage of instructors from the LA Opera, the Juilliard School, the Cincinnati Conservatory, as well as lifelong piano studies, I've come to see that music education is in itself a real art.

I began tutoring (and now teaching) in 2005, teaching my first music students in 2008. I see that success in an instrument lies in tapping into students' passions for motivation and incorporating mindfulness practice for improved concentration. I not only work to help students' musical abilities grow - I utilize this practice as a holistic system for improving discipline, creative capacity and self-esteem.

Though I graduated cum laude from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service rather than a music ...

Mira is a gem of a music teacher

Mira has been fabulous, she puts in extra effort and attention in developing lesson plans that are tailored to your individual needs as a violinist. She is exceptionally knowledgable in all aspects of the technique that goes into playing. From posture, bowing, and instrument technicalities, to playing notes correctly and smoothly, she is a gem of a musician.

In addition, she is articulate, thoughtful, professional, and above all, she genuinely cares about your performance and ability to improve as a musician.

I look forward to working with her in the near and distant future, and highly recommend her, whether you are starting as a beginner, or just getting back into playing the violin. Great job!

Delilah is great. I started violin with her about 5 months ago and I'm making really good progression.
I think one of the most important aspects of being a good teacher is finding the metaphors to make different aspects of the training click with the student. She is great at this.

She's also great at keeping me on track with some of the issues a new violin student has on a regular basis.... shoulder moving too much, bow bouncing, pitch.
Highly recommend Delilah as a teacher for all ages.

Delilah is an excellent teacher. I have seen amazing improvement in my child's playing in just a few short weeks. Now my son wants to play and practice so he can show her.
My son's previous teacher only told him, "It's wrong. Fix it." She did not tell him how to this.Delilah is able to explain to my child HOW to fix his mistake and encourages him a positive way. This makes all the difference in the world.
