Olises N. began formally learning drums at age 12 when he attended Washington Irving Junior High School.
Having received a strong musical foundation under the direction of Ms. Lynn Johnson-Lang, he went on to being accepted into the Hamilton Music Academy/Humanities Magnet school in Culver City. Under the direction of David Sears (Senior Director at The Grammy Foundation) and a "whose who" of visiting artists, Olises' basics were sharpened, his musical horizons expanded and his passion and admiration for teaching were fueled.
Olises' first teaching experience was at a local high school where he was asked by the music director to teach a summer drums/percussion course.
He continued to perform, travel, and record with many groups while attending Pasadena City College where he studied music theory, piano, classical percussion with Ken McGrath and further Jazz performance with the legendary Bobby Bradford.

I was inspired by drums early on in my life. My intro was playing along to the stereo hitting the floor with a unmatched pair of sticks. At age 12 I received a drumset and was able emulate some rock drumming style pretty fast. My learning hit a plateau soon after tho. My discipline for drum books and practice was very poor in the beginning.
Attending Musicians Institute in 1987 was the starting point of my commitment to myself to improve and be the best player i can be. I Graduated from MI with Honors and started playing with bands and continued to practice many hours a day. By 1994 I was teaching 30 -60 students a week. I have maintained that schedule for 15 years.

My love for music began at the age of 2 when my mother first took me to a small local music school. Ever since that day, I have always found myself studying one type of instrument or another. Following a yearlong intensive training at the renowned Collective School of Music in Manhattan, I pursued a BFA degree at the famous New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. I have been a student of the drums myself for 17 years. I started like many musicians have, learning to play a musical instrument in the school band. I picked up some drum sticks and haven't put them down since. My favorite styles of music are funk and rock. I have studied orchestral drumming, drumset, and music theory for 2 years at the collegiate level. I have taken several private lessons with well renown drummers and clinicians. I studied music at the University of Miami Frost School of music where I received a Bachelor's of Music in Studio Music and Jazz Drum Set Performance. I've performed on Television (Drums, piano, guitar, percussion) on the T.V. shows: "Glee," "Bones," "The Closer," "Oprah." I was the showband drummer on the Norwegian Dawn Cruise Ship in 2006 and the original drummer/percussionist/actor in the Off-Broadway Musical, "Dear Edwina" in New York City.

While most 5 year olds were singing along to silly songs, I was entranced by the tribal drumming in the Michael Jackson's "Will you be there". When most Junior High student were listening to, well, whatever made them "cool", I was thinking of what John Lennon meant in his lyrics for "Strawberry Fields Forever." I have always had a deep passion for music that goes beyond the surface. I connect with the very soul of music.

Writing my first song at the age of 7, the creative fire began to use music to express what no other form of communication could. Struggling with the limitations of my vocal abilities at the age of 16, I decided to intensify my study of the voice, taking hundreds of private lessons in such techniques as Bel Canto Vocal Technique, Speech Level Singing(TM), Progressive Vocal Techniques(TM), and others, as well as reading dozens of books and hundreds of research articles on the mechanisms of the voice. I grew up in the metro-Detroit suburb of Farmington Hills. After High School, I attended the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. While attending CCM, I was chosen as the 2007 Sisters and Jazz Drummer for IAJE. With this band I toured NYC, Washington DC, and Costa Rica. I finished my Masters degree from the California Institute of the Arts in 2010. I currently maintain an active performance calendar around LA.
I’ve been teaching private drum lessons and group percussion/ jazz classes for over six years. My teaching and playing experience ranges from marching percussion to classical percussion to all styles of drum set. I’ve had many students place in their high school drum lines or jazz bands and be accepted to all-state band/orchestra/jazz bands. I’ve even had a few students go on to major in music in college. My passion for music and teaching goes way back when I wrote my first song at age 9 about an American Indian girl- I HAVE NO INDIAN BLOOD IN ME- but somehow I felt a connection- possibly something I learned at school or on TV. That experience- it changed and improved the evolution of my maturing through today. I was able to express my thoughts and facts I have learned through a song! Musical instruments- I played the guitar and piano on that first recording and my voice; and wrote out the lyrics and music notes! It gave me such confidence in myself. I felt I had achieved a great deal and won some educational contests and received great respect from my teachers.

Ryan started his music with piano lessons at age four while lending his vocal talents in the recording booth for his musician/writer/ arranger father, Rick. Ryan was playing in piano recitals by age six, segued from keyboards to drums at age 14, and was subsequently accepted into the University of California, Santa Barbara percussion program after high school.

While an undergraduate at UCSB, Ryan spent three years as the principal timpanist for the UCSB Symphony and five years as timpanist with the UCSB Wind Ensemble. Concurrently over the same five year period, he performed with a diversity of UCSB ensembles, Orchestra and Jazz combos, work with the College of Creative Studies department (CCS), and a variety of recording and recital work in and outside the university.
