About Michael

Michael has worked with kids for 10 years in schools and arts programs to find fun and their best self through performance. He has taught orchestra, chamber music, jazz band and music theory in the public schools, while performing in local ensembles in and around the city. He also has studied drama, voice and movement and believes all these skills help in expressing yourself--no matter what pieces you want to play!

In addition to working with students K-12, he also loves working with adults. I try to provide a nurturing atmosphere for someone trying revive or discover previously hidden musical interests!

Motivated

I'm a senior citizen that still works. I played some other instruments when I was younger and always wanted to play piano and Michael has motivated me to continue to learn and fit my practice into my work schedule. Anyone who wants to learn to play an instrument should look no further then Michael.

About Peter

I am a current student at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts studying Violin Performance. I've been teaching since my freshman year of High School and it is a strong passion of mine. I feel that all students in music are able to reach the highest levels of music with the proper instruction. I teach classical and fiddle music. Occasionally, my classical students are taught a fiddle tune by ear to improve their ear training skills.

Brian M. Tempe, AZ

Students in this area will receive extensive instruction on musicality, the fundamentals of reading/interpreting musical notation/symbols, comfortable and physically healthy approaches to holding the instrument and practicing effective posture, as well as performance techniques. Most beginners will start from the Suzuki series. Lessons are custom tailored and planned according to the individual student and his/her individual needs. What do you want to learn, and what do you hope to gain from our time together? These questions are among my top priorities when starting with a new client. All levels (including advanced) are included in this category (see lessons for Audition Preparation as well).

About Brian

After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance (Violin) from the artistically vibrant and widely recognized music program at Central Washington University, I traveled to the nationally recognized Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University where I am currently in my 2nd year of my Master's Degree in Music. I have been teaching both in-home and in a professional capacity since 2005. Having personally prepared many auditions, I have both experiential and technical advice to offer intermediate to advanced players. Music theory and its applications is another one of my passions and I am always excited to share this knowledge in all instrumental lessons, which include both violin and viola. Lessons through this website will ...

Brian was fantastic! My daughter struggled with difficult fingerings and he helped her nail it! He supported her confidence and she is now 1st chair in her orchestra!

Brian is a really good teacher. He is very good at helping to develop better playing techniques as a player. He is also good at helping to master pieces of music.
Brianna L. Tempe, AZ

I have been playing the viola since high school and use the same principles to teach viola that I use to teach the violin. The instruments are very similar as far as technique and beginning repertoire.

About Brianna

I am a recent graduate from the University of Idaho. I earned my degree in Instrumental Music Education and have been teaching privately for 7 years. My main instrument is violin, but I took to other instruments very fast and am very qualified to teach viola, cello, clarinet and saxophone. Before moving to Arizona, I taught many violin students through my own private studio and through the University of Idaho Preparatory Division. My students ranged from ages 3 to 50. I currently teach private instrumental lessons to grades 2-8 at a private school and work at an after school program at a charter school. The majority of my experience is with students age 3 through 8th grade.
