Mark D. Cave Creek, AZ

I played trombone in high school when the sax music got a little boring.
My fondest memory was getting to play 76 trombones at a WVU game, circa 1977.

About Mark

I am experienced at teaching all levels of players.
I studied sax, woodwinds, brass and piano performance at West Virginia Wesleyan College and Berklee School Of Music, and I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
In addition to all the book knowledge, I have vast experience in performance - where it counts!
Having played in bands since high school, moving on to Boston and performing with the most sought-after band, Eye2Eye, for 10 years then on to Arizona, playing and singing live in countless venues.

Motivated

I'm a senior citizen that still works. I played some other instruments when I was younger and always wanted to play piano and Michael has motivated me to continue to learn and fit my practice into my work schedule. Anyone who wants to learn to play an instrument should look no further then Michael.

After retirement, I returned to my trombone after a 50-year hiatus and found that my chops (along with a few other things) were missing. Thanks to Kurt's 16 week high register course, I have a decent range--usually to C#2--and am improving daily. His course requires work and diligence, but is rewarding. Kurt has a substantial number of techniques designed to improve your range, making it easy to find a technique that works for you. Phone sessions were helpful and timely. I would recommend Kurt without hesitation.

I took Kurt's 4 month high range brass course via phone and Skype a little over a year ago. My range prior to this time with Kurt was high C and seldom above. At the end of my study with Kurt my range was F above high C daily in practice, giving my usable range a nice lift. Now, a year later in my practice I have daily G's and an occasional A over C. Kurt has great knowledge of many different techniques from many professional players from which he draws upon in his course. He is well organized, punctual and well spoken - he gets his points across well. He will challenge you and get the job done!

It was after a 15 year break due to Military Service, College and family that I returned to playing my favorite hobby. My wife had my fathers Horn repaired as a Christmas Gift. Having played a month achieving my high school range of High F, I wanted to get better in the upper register. I went online in search of a teacher that can play there and found Kurt's website and took the 16 week upper register course. One of the best investments of my life. He took my up 9 notes on range and endurance to GGG!!! His theories and applications produce outstanding results if done the way instructed. I am now taking his Lead Course. Keep it up Kurt!

Our son is taking trumpet lessons with William & is learning rhythm, etc. Those things he didn't get in Kansas; the elementary school students learned just the basics. We know the kids have to start somewhere, but we're so glad our son is learning things he won't find in school. William has an impressive teaching background; it blows my mind that he can play all of these instruments!

I've had 3 lessons with Bill. He is very knowledgeable and believes in teaching the basics of music so that you have a better understanding of how it all goes together. It is a great pleasure to work with him and I expect to do so for a long time. By the way I am nearly 78 years old and have played the clarinet off and on since I was in 5th grade. And now I am being taught the foundation of music for the first time which I have always needed. It is going to make my appreciation of playing so much greater in the future.

Amy is awesome! My son just turned 5 and his attention span is very short, but Amy is able to keep him on track. She is very patient and always go over the material with me, so that I understand it and I am able to help my son practice at home. I really appreciate her teaching style.

Amy is Awesome :o)

It would be very difficult to sum up all reasons why Amy is a wonderful music teacher. Amy provides a positive and judgment-free zone for her music lessons. She is both encouraging and inspirational. When my daughter becomes frustrated with a new note or technique, Amy simply reminds her that she is more than capable and all she needs is practice. I appreciate the time and thought Amy puts into making music selections that will both challenge my daughter’s playing abilities while retaining her attention.

We highly recommend this teacher!

Amy is a highly talented, bright, thoughtful and dedicated piano teacher. We couldn't have asked for someone better to introduce our daughter to the piano. She is patient but she gently pushes our daughter beyond her comfort zone. This is the piano teacher you are looking for...
Kyle S. Tempe, AZ

I began playing trombone in high school, in parallel with my euphonium studies and have now been playing for about 8 years. I know my way around the horn very well, have played excellent repertoire, most recently in a jazz big band, and most importantly, I understand the differences between the trombone and euphonium and how to compensate on each instrument to produce the best results in either case.

About Kyle

22 years old, Kyle S. has spent a majority of his life devoted to music. He has expertise in all brass instruments while specializing in euphonium and trombone, and also plays guitar and is currently taking lessons in piano. After graduating from Corona del Sol High School, Kyle returned to the music program as a marching band tech and clinician for the low brass players and has been teaching there since 2011, while working toward a double-major in Music Education and Euphonium Performance at Arizona State. He has a lot of experience in teaching privately, group lessons, master classes, marching band, and concert settings across all ages. Aside from music, Kyle is particularly talented with math and physics, and his two favorite hobbies are exercising, and reading when he is not ...
