Knowing at the age of 5 that music was my life, by being brought up surrounded by praise music and gospel, my early exposure to music helped me to find every Instrument and style just my thing! I wanted to play everything and learn all aspects of music. I started with singing in the children's choir and then developed into piano and music theory. At the age of 12 I began to learn classical guitar, and at 15 took on various styles like Flamenco, Jazz and Rock. I graduated from High School having played in the school band achieving recognition In national Institutions Like IAJE (International Association for Jazz Education) and state band finals. I was also composing from a very early age, and at 18 released my first album (self-titled) which can still be heard and purchased today through various music outlets, since i have released over 15 albums with various ensembles and bands. In college I already knew from my previous experience that I wanted to teach and pass on the joy that music brought to my life. I studied Music Theory and Jazz and finished my degree in Music Education. I have been teaching all in all for about 14 yrs. and I have enjoyed every minute I have spent with my students learning as much from them, as them from me. I am looking forward to meeting new and eager students who really want to bring their inner music out to share with the rest of us music aficionados! and develop their skills to the peak of their abilities.
Improv Acting, Method Acting, Shakespearean Acting, Singing, Theater Acting, Acting, Broadway Singing, Speaking Voice
Originally from New York City, music has always been one of my passions and I was hooked from the moment I had my first piano lesson at 7 years of age. I went on to study with excellent teachers which included a scholarship to the Greenwich School of Music in Greenwich Village. During those years I also met my first drama teacher, Gertrud Schattner, a Viennese actress who was one of the founding members of the National Association of Drama Therapy in the United States. She instilled in me a love for musical theatre and prepared me to audition for the High School of Performing Arts, which was portrayed accurately in the original movie "Fame" (1980). I received a rigorous and thorough training there in theatre, voice, and movement and have since gone on to perform and to give instruction in acting and singing.
For the past eleven years I have been the Creative Arts and Choir Director at New Beginning Church, as well as a praise and worship leader with the band. During these years I have taught and directed youth and adults in musical plays, choral and solo singing. My goal is always to help bring out the best in their voices and performances.
I especially enjoy coaching students who are preparing to audition for entrance into performing arts schools, theatrical roles, or talent scout searches. I believe that anyone who is properly trained will be amazed at how beautiful their voices can become. It gives me a great deal of joy and satisfaction to see students expand and improve their vocal and performance abilities beyond what they thought possible.

My name is Nicole but you can call me Nikki! Here's a little about me and what I've accomplished.
I have been singing since the age of four! I am a native of Miami Beach Florida. I started performing in church and school where my passion for performing were developed. Having come from such a background I was privileged with a well rounded musical tastes, from Gospel in church Classical in school, and Reggae, Pop, Rock, and R&B from her parents. In performing in contests and local shows I learned a lot about stage presence and can share that with my students as well. I earned my bachelor's in Studio Music and Jazz Voice and the University of Miami as well as a Minor in Music Business. At UM I had the opportunity to study with critically acclaimed Jazz musicians and artists such as Kevin Mahogany, Kurt Elling and John Secada. Since earning my degree I've worked with the Florida Grand Opera in their production of Aida, also sang background vocals for Gloria Estefan and Michael Buble. I currently perform around South Florida at various hot spots with my band Sweet Spot! So those to teach can do too!
My main objective as a performer is to effectively and skillfully entertain a variety of audiences to the best of my ability using the knowledge that I have attained from my experiences as a student and as an entertainer, and in turn work for an established business in the music industry and become a successful artist. My objective as an educator is to not only teach my students about music but allowing them to grow and flourish as performers and as musicians.
