About Me

Re-imagine. Re-define. Re-authenticate.

This is the motto followed by Minnesota born Kyle Wesley; combining classic methods with modern soundscapes in order to stretch genres. Whether through production skills, engineering, or instrumental performances, the goal is always innovation.

Studying under multiple teachers and disciplines, Kyle Wesley's sound has been shaped by his education, stemming from Jonny Lang's teacher Teddy Larsen, to jazz visionaries Nick Fryer and Alan Carter (MSUM), to professional Nashville session guitarist Mike Ihde (Berklee College of Music).

Thanks to proper education and inspiration, Kyle Wesley has performed at many venues of multiple sizes. As small as local jazz clubs, such as Studio 222, unique as the community theater orchestral pit, and as large as opening for bands like OK Go in packed settings. No venue is too large or too small.

Currently Kyle Wesley is paving his way through Nashville and beyond by creating his own methods, re-defining genres, and creating vast soundscapes to fit any situation. Constantly furthering himself creatively and proficiently, Kyle Wesley has showed continuing dedication towards achieving success in production, engineering and musicality.

Lessons with Kyle Wesley can include anything and everything!

About Me

I am a Nashville session musician, sideman and music teacher. I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Commercial Music with a Composition and Arranging Emphasis from Belmont University and I am currently pursuing a Masters in Music at MTSU. Coming from a family of Classical and Jazz musicians, I have been exposed to music my whole life. Over the years I have had the opportunity to play and record with many great bands and artists ranging from Country/Bluegrass to Rock to Jazz. I teach all genres of guitar, bass, banjo ukulele and mandolin.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe the ability to play an instrument is only part of musicianship. I also strive to teach my students the theory behind the music they learn. I work hard to make sure that my students are doing everything in the easiest way possible. I want to ensure that they are able to progress quickly enough so that they can see the difference. The most rewarding moment as a teacher is when a student points out how hard something once was and how easy it has become.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music store environment. No pets.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I travel with all teaching equipment needed but a music stand is recommended for the lessons and for practicing.

*** Specialties ***
I am a very versatile teacher and player but I am often recommended based on my knowledge of Gypsy Jazz, Swing, bluegrass, country and rock teaching acoustic guitar, electric guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele

About Me

How something is presented can be the difference between a student taking personal interest in something and excelling, or leaving it behind. Understanding how a student learns best is a discovery process for both the teacher and the student, as some students are better visual learners, some auditory, and others more mechanical. The lessons are adapted to the student weaknesses, learning style, and pace. My goal as a teacher is to foster a lifelong interest in music, sharing my musical knowledge and real life experience to give my students the tools they need to develop their art. Above all we want to have fun, grow, and create music!

About Matt:
- Active performer, producer, and composer
- B.M. Professional Music, Berklee College of Music, Boston
- Jazz Studies, UT Knoxville
- Previously instructed at Mount Olive Music Academy, Shiloh Music, and Gladeville UMC

I have come to believe that a great teacher is a great artist and that there are as few as there are any other great artists. Teaching might even be the greatest of the arts since the medium is the human mind and spirit.
