I’ve been teaching professionally to all ages and levels for over 10 years throughout the Chicagoland area. I have been playing for about 19 years. Music is my passion. I even own and run an all ages music venue. Teaching is my biggest love and I love seeing students learn! There isn’t a style I will not teach. All music to me is fascinating:)

I have performed professionally on stage and in the studio for over 20 years. I studied music with a double major in guitar and bass guitar. I also play flute and keyboards. I began my musical training at 10 years old learning how to play guitar. I have a deep love for music and began to teach what I know to others and found that teaching music is very rewarding. I like to help others discover the joy that comes from learning and playing a musical instrument.

I am great with young students just starting out and make sure that learning their instrument is a fun experience. With teenagers and adults, I not only teach guitar methods, but also the basic principles required to "jam" with other musicians. I also work with bands and ensembles teaching basic performance techniques required to perform live.

I can teach folk, rock, country, blues and jazz methods. I also teach my students how music is constructed so the student can understand how a chord is built or a guitar...

I have been playing guitar for 28 years, starting with Rock/Blues before studying both Classical and Jazz guitar in college. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1995. I am currently a guitar teacher in the NW Chicago suburbs and in Chicago currently with 35 students, teaching all ages, all levels and all styles. I have been teaching guitar and music off and on for the past 18+ years but in 2007 I decided to devote myself to teaching full time (yes, teaching guitar is my primary job!)...the best decision I have ever made!

My name is Daniel. Composition is my major area of expertise and my major instruments are jazz piano and voice. I currently attend Vandercook College of Music due to the fact that it is a specialized school strictly devoted to music educators. Beyond its capacity for being used as entertainment, music aids in learning, helps develop advanced motor skills, increases memory function, and many other purposes for a well rounded education. It is my goal to help educate the next generation in traditional music practices as well as incorporate new techniques that are relevant to our current day and age.

I come from a family of musicians and grew up with guitar and piano music in the house. I believe music is a gift to enjoy and develop. I began playing guitar and singing at the age of 13. I have played, taught and performed music since that time.
I have worked with musicians from various levels throughout the years in many different genres such as country, pop, folk and contemporary Christian music. I have also done some studio work. I have also played coffee shops and open mics in the Chicago area. For the past 10 years I have been a member of my church worship team playing guitar and singing. I hold a bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Northeastern Illinois University. Presently I teach both privately and in an academic after school program in Palatine, Il. I am very patient and actually truly enjoy my beginner guitar students. I love to see the look on their face when they finally play that first song.

My name is Alex. I have a B.A. in Music Composition with a minor in music theory from Roosevelt University's CCPA. I have privately studied guitar for 10+ years and have studied piano with Glenna Sprague and Sevgi Giles. I am also highly competent in music history as well as electroacoustic music composition. I am very familiar with programs such as Pro Tools and Max/MSP. Aside from western music, I have been studying and performing Javanese Gamelan for over 4 years and have had the opportunity to study from Gamelan masters in Java, Indonesia such as Mas Midiyanto, Mas Joko Sutrisno, and Mas Darsono. I have also performed at various places such as Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park, Chicago Cultural Center, and the Chicago Club. I have been commissioned by groups such as Friends of the Gamelan and Con Brio.

I began playing guitar seven years ago and fell in love with it immediately. Since then, it has become a true passion of mine. Writing music, entertaining others, and having fun are just a few of the benefits I have gained from playing guitar and intend on passing on to all of my students. After just a year of playing, I already played in my first battle of the bands at school. Since then, I have played guitar for bands that have performed at WARP Skate Park, Just for Fun Roller Rink, Main Beach in Crystal Lake, and Penny Road Pub in Barrington. Currently, I am going to McHenry County College while reinforcing my knowledge of guitar, photography, and film.

Hello my name is Nate. I have been playing guitar since my early teenage years, and I have always had a great passion for music. I have played guitar for two different bands and have also done solo and independent work on the guitar. I took guitar lessons for four years and I am currently at McHenry Country College working towards my associate's degree in fine arts and music. I have taught guitar for almost three years now and I am looking to expand my horizons! I am only twenty-one years old and I still remember what it feels like to be someone first starting out on guitar. I have worked with many different age groups and musical genre's when teaching, and I know that I can help you get to the skill level you hope to achieve on guitar.

Paul has been teaching music in the public school system since 1997. He has a bachelor and master's degree in music education from VanderCook College of Music. While at VanderCook Paul studied all woodwind, brass, percussion, and string instruments, as well as music theory, conducting, and rehearsal techniques.

Along with being a music teacher, Paul also composes and records out of his home studio. He has played bass and guitar in various Chicago bands including, Reckless Maggie, The One, Chicago Sound Machine, and Windy City.

I came to music through the "back door", but I am in good company. Like many professional and some famous musicians, I am mostly self-taught. I did not study music in school. I got hooked during the "British invasion" and have been studying ever since. One thing I understand about teaching music is that it is a two-way street. More precisely, I have learned that teaching is one side of the coin, the other is learning. Teacher is student. What I mean is, we learn more about music together. You can go to your college and go to your school, and I have along the way, but you never stop learning about music. No wonder it is such a captivating pastime.

My Story:

As a guitarist in my early years I spent much time reworking my technique and gaining insight in how guitar playing really works. My early struggles gave way to a solid knowledge of the guitar and music.

This was gained through no small part through my High School music teacher, through master classes of Manuel Lopez Ramos and Abel Carlevaro and others.

These master classes helped me in a big way to develop teaching systems and principles that can help anyone to learn guitar easier and more effectively.
