Just the teacher I was looking for

I have been a student of Justin since November 2012 and the journey so far has been incredible. I have learnt valuable techniques that make all the difference in my singing performance. I have learnt how to comfortably hit the high notes, breathe correctly and project my voice better.
Justin pays attention to every detail(like Sherlock Holmes) during practice.Yes!! He can also figure out if you did not complete your homework for the week. He always knows just the right vocal, breathing or warm up exercise to help me perform better.
He is very patient and encouraging. I remember being very nervous the first class but he made me feel at ease. He took time to understand the goals I wanted to accomplish and the areas I wanted to improve. After the half hour,I knew I found the teacher I was looking for.
Every class I get to learn something new about music, performance or my capabilities and I have never been this excited about any class ever. All thanks to Justin. He's the best!!

I couldn't ask for more

Justin has been twice the teacher I hoped for. Not only does he have an incredible and comprehensive understanding of the anatomy of the voice, but he can explain concepts in simple and relatable terms. He is also great at diagnosing the causes of weaknesses, and being a couple steps ahead when progressing through them. And, best of all, he is receptive to the student, always asking for feedback about the lesson or exercises. Being 23 and just starting singing lessons, I was a little hesitant to begin, but working with Justin has been great.

TONE OF MY VOICE IMPROVED

Victoria is an excellent voice teacher. She taught me how to "think low" when I sing in the higher range. She helped me to concentrate on wordenunciation. She taught me how to breathe differently, when I sing. I highly recommend her.

My name is Arlys, and my vocal exploration began at age three singing solos at church. As a teenager, I performed with the concert choir and madrigal singers under the tutelage of Hal W., a teacher who affected me so deeply with his love of classical choral music that it changed my life, although I wouldn't realize it until much later. As a young artist, I wrote, sang and performed with numerous original rock, pop, funk & blues bands; simultaneously acting, singing, dancing or choreographing ...

Helen will get to know your student and meet them where they are.

My name is Trish F-J and my kids Henry and Mary Grace have taken lessons from Helen for over 13 years. Each of my kids is very different in their musical interest and commitment to piano. Helen understands their individual styles and meets them where they are at. Helen challenges them, but knows when to use a gentle touch. A few months ago, my son Henry decided to pursue other interests and is no longer taking lessons. He has told me that one of the reasons he took lessons for as long as he did was because he really liked working with Helen. I highly recommend Helen.

Helen is a fantastic teacher!

Helen is a wonderful teacher. I actually think of her more as a vocal coach, life coach, and friend for life! I studied voice with Helen for about two years, and I only stopped because I moved away from Minneapolis. She’s someone who believes in the uniqueness and power of every voice. Helen’s positive energy—along with her knowledge of the body, breath, and a wide range of vocal exercises & techniques—is completely invested in helping each student learn how to love their voice, use their voice, and make their voice their own.

I am a singer-songwriter, and before I took lessons with Helen, my voice was often shy. Helen helped me bring my voice forward, teaching me how to stay present with the emotion of each song and to use my breath to sing with confidence. She is a sensitive woman who is always enthusiastic and encouraging. She helped me strengthen my range, and she helped me not to be afraid of the high or the low notes. Most importantly, she helped me not to be afraid of what I have to say in my songs. With Helen, I learned how to perform my songs instead of just sing them.
Ruthie T. Minneapolis, MN

I love all different kinds of music and Opera is such a beautiful art form. I sang multiple Opera songs while I studied music in college.

About Ruthie

My name is Ruthie and I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in May of 2007 with a Bachelors of Music Education degree with an emphasis in voice. Through my collegiate experiences, I had the privilege of participating in a Concert Choir, Barbershop/A Capella Ensembles, Vocal Jazz Ensembles and Performance in Solo Voice. The jazz program at UNC is one of the finest in the United States, and to be selected as a member of one of the vocal jazz ensembles was an honor in itself. From these experiences I have gained knowledge about the importance of vocal performance and music advocacy. I accepted a position as a general music teacher in Colorado in the fall of 2007 and then worked part time for a school in Laguna Niguel, CA until June of 2012. I recently moved from California to ...
