Hello hello and welcome to my profile! My name is Brennan, and singing is my life. I am an opera singer, a mezzo-soprano to be precise, and a Masters student at the University of Minnesota. Because I have been studying classical voice for almost 11 years and music in general for 16 years, I know what it takes to improve singing technique and musical skills necessary to be a great musician. As I regular performer, I also know what it takes to get over stage fright and performance anxiety, how to really capture an audience, and how to improvise on the spot when something goes wrong. While I was earning my Bachelor's Degree in Music at Pepperdine University, I also worked as a Music Theory tutor, so I have no problem teaching the basics to even the most beginner students. In fact, I love it!. If you want to sing in styles other than opera, that's great! I also perform cabaret, rock, Broadway, and pop music in my spare time, and I love any chance to delve into other kinds of music....

Nathan holds degrees in voice performance from Northwestern College and Denver University. Since the completion of his Master’s he has performed with the professional male vocal ensemble Cantus, performed in Guthrie Theater’s nationally broadcast H.M.S. Pinafore, and participated in several productions with Minnesota Opera. Nathan enjoys helping students develop their voices, whether for musical theater, opera, or their own compositions. Nathan is passionate about communicating the elements of good vocal technique in a way that makes sense to each student. Besides performing and teaching, Nathan loves collaborating with fellow musicians to produce concert programs and new works.

I am an energetic and dedicated teacher who has been guiding students through the process of discovering their voice for over six years. I believe that everyone has the capacity to sing, and that each instrument is special and unique. The primary goal of my instruction will always be to teach healthy vocal habits that allow that individual’s true voice to shine through with ease and enjoyment. Singing is an extremely challenging but also very rewarding activity that can be a blessing throughout one’s lifetime.

I have dedicated my life to the art of singing, and have had extensive performing experience. Most recently, I have portrayed Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Lulu in Elmer Gantry, First Lady and Papagena from The Magic Flute, Laurey in Oklahoma and appeared as a guest soloist for Bach’s Cantata 43. These experiences give me valuable insight into the challenges of performing; lessons that I am eager to share with my students.

I have been teaching for over 8 years and my unique versatility as an educator has given me the experience I need to be successful. I am an Orff-Schulwerk trained teacher, whose philosophy is based on things children like to do: sing, chant rhymes, clap, dance, and keep a beat on anything near at hand in a non-competitive atmosphere where one of the rewards is the pleasure of making good music with others. I have an outstanding rapport with children in the classroom and in one-on-one instruction. I am also a leader and a performer whether I am conducting songs at the all-school assemblies, singing in the community choir, or playing rock music in a club. In addition to the many creative projects outside of work, I am an active board member of my local Orff-Schulwerk chapter which promotes a network of music educators.

Hello! I'm Justin, a classically trained Baritone with an emphasis in operatic singing. I have earned my Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, where I have appeared in various operas, and performed many recitals. I am currently pursuing my Masters of Music degree at the University of Minnesota, which will be completed this coming May. In addition to a semi-regular recital schedule in my undergraduate work, I have played the roles of Papageno in The Magic Flute, Marcello in La Boheme, Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd, and Marco in Gianni Schicchi. I am currently preparing the role of Demetrius in the U of M's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. I am the Bass Section Leader at Central Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, MN.

My vocal exploration began at age three singing solos at church, and I later adding ballet and piano lessons to my artistic studies. As a teenager, I performed with the concert choir and madrigal singers under the tutelage of Hal Wildung, a teacher who affected me so deeply with his love of classical choral music that it changed my life, although I wouldn’t realize it until much later. As a young artist, I wrote, sang and performed with numerous original rock, pop, funk & blues bands; simultaneously acting, singing, dancing or choreographing stage musicals. Early on in my career I was lucky enough to get a private session with Jeannette LoVetri who first introduced me to Alexander Technique exercises that I use to this day.

I am an experienced music instructor with 20 years of experience. I have a Bachelor's degree in Sacred Music with a major in Voice. I have been playing piano for 31 years with having been an accompanist for choirs and soloists and a pianist at weddings and churches. I am a believer that anyone can learn piano and improve their vocal abilities! I also know that a knowledge of music and music theory go together to improve one's learning ability in any area of his/her life. The student and I would work together. I don't just teach the "how to", I help and encourage taking time at the lesson to learn and understand the music. I am a huge advocate of building the student's skills during the lesson time and using the rest of the week on their own to continue to review the skills they have already acquired. I am a performer/teacher! I was the music director at my home church in 2009. The summer of 2011 I live and performed in Italy. In 2012 I join the education staff of the Minnesota Opera coaching high schoolers at Opera Camp. This fall I plan on joining the Twin Cities' professional choir VocalEssence.
As for privately teaching, I've been teaching since 2008 and I am very passionate about teaching people the skills that I learned as a young singer.

A love of music began in the third grade. I started on a silver metal clarinet and have not stopped playing. I am a musician, composer, arranger and performer. I hold a B.A. in music and have taught in the schools for 22 years. I bring extensive knowledge and humor to my teaching. I enjoy working with all age levels and pride myself on being intensely positive.
