Broadway Singing is an especially great style for younger/newer singers. As most Broadway pieces have a decent range, which challenges the students and helps in finding the range that is appropriate for them.It also has a variety of emotions for singing, allowing character work to excel performance ability. It is great music to work through technique with, and help my students get out of their comfort zones. I have performed leading parts in musicals, as well as a variety of plays. I have also directed 5 musicals and worked with theater groups. I am a technique intensive teacher no matter the style. I want my students to be able to sing in a healthy manner, to use their voice to their fullest potential, and to have the ability to make the sounds appropriate for the music they are singing. Singing should always be fun!
I love teaching! How incredible it is to aid people in the joy of music, build their confidence, and help them sing with ease and comfort! I am a classical vocal performance graduate from Belmont University. I have sung all over the world, as a soloist with a missions organization The New America Singers. We sang in Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, Russia and Germany, with our largest audience being over 6,000 people. I have performed several solo concerts in Germany, directed Children's Musicals, and have been teaching private voice at my home studio, the YMCA in Brentwood, as well as Rock Springs Middle school. Teaching voice is something that I am passionate about. I had some vocal health issues when I was younger, but thankfully I had an incredible ...

I don't believe in traditional methods of teaching in regards to any instrument or voice type. Music is an individualized discipline that should be tailored to each student, rather than the idea that each student be forced to conform to traditional methods that may or may not suit their needs. However, I am not opposed to traditional methods and have taught from Alfred, Thompson, Hannon, Marchesi, Suzuki, and others.

My name is Brenna F. and I have been taking private voice lessons since I was 15 years old. I've been educated in vocal therapy as well as technique and I have a Bachelor's Degree in vocal performance from McNally Smith College of Music. I've undergone vocal surgery and have a knowledge about different vocal issues as well. I enjoy using my passion about music with my education to help others understand the basic music components. I can help students with voice as well as music theory and beginner's piano. I began teaching during college and since moving to Nashville have rediscovered my passion for teaching by helping new friends learn. I think teaching kids music will combine some of my favorite things and I will enjoy the work I'm doing.
