I love music! To me, it truly is a universal language, and nothing else can capture and express emotion quite like it. Ever since I picked up a guitar 15 years ago, I've been on a quest to learn and speak the language of music. One discovery I have made along the way is that I love teaching it to others, too!

Over the past 10 years, I've been busy immersing myself in music. The excitement of performing live on stage, the pride of writing a song that touches someone, the reward of watching a student learn something new—these are the things that fuel my passion. My dream is that my students will one day be able to experience these things!

I've been teaching guitar lessons for over 5 years, and I just recently graduated from ASU with a B.S. in psychology. Also, I am co-founder, producer, and engineer at an independent recording studio in Mesa, AZ. This broad range of experience makes me confident that I have lots to offer for every student, beginning to advanced.

I started playing music by taking group piano lessons through a Yamaha music school when I was about 7 years old. I started playing drums when I was 11 and guitar at 13. By the time I was in high school, I was involved playing all different types of percussion in the marching band, jazz band, and steel drum band, in addition to developing an interested in music recording and production. This was also the time when I started to teach drum lessons. Since then, I have played in multiple bands in venues all over Phoenix. I have worked on production for albums and videos for many different bands. I have also completed an Interdisciplinary Degree in Arts and Music at ASU.

I have a multi-faceted background that can benefit students in many ways. I am a Board-Certified Music Therapist with over twenty years of Therapy and Teaching experience. I am a DePaul University Music graduate and studied Classical Guitar with Richard Pick. I enjoy working with beginning and challenging students and love singing and playing guitar.

Hi I'm Marty T. and there is nothing I love more than playing & teaching the guitar (except for my wonderful family)!
I was born and bred in New York City where I learned the art of guitar playing from the finest musicians in the world. By the age of 16 I was performing in the famous Catskill Mountain hotels. Being surrounded by famous musicians and musical acts gave me the drive to continue my studies with renowned guitarist / teacher Howard Morgen.
While attending the City of New York University I continued my studies with legendary guitarist Joe Monk.
I also studied with Joe Ravo and Billy Bauer. By the time I graduated college, I had more musical work than I could handle so I opted to be a professional musician.
In this endeavor I ended up playing every venue possible in the Tri State Area. From The Waldorf Astoria and Plaza Hotel to show bands to Country Club extravaganzas, from jazz to classic rock, blues, Brazilian and so much more.

With 15 years performing and 8 years teaching experience under my belt, I am a focused teacher and musician who really enjoys seeing students achieve their goals and desires musically. I attended Arizona State University to better both my teaching and personal musical skills. I feel that there is something absolutely awesome about watching a student grow both musically and personally. I am a goal-oriented individual with a versatile background and a relaxed, "let's have fun while we learn" attitude. I believe music should always be fun and inspiring for everyone, no matter what skill level.

My name is Lou and I have been playing guitar since the age of 14. I was a manager at Colorado's largest music store retailers'. Quite often, I have been the one behind the scenes either teaching, recording, engineering, or running live sound.
I started teaching when I was 18 years old, it just seemed I had an ability to make sense out the guitar. I understand after years of teaching what motivates and helps students get to their goals.
