Hello, my name is Jonathan, and I teach piano privately. As a William Paterson University graduate in Music Studies, I feel that music is an essential part of our lives, and learning how to play an instrument can help people of all ages (particularly children) share and express their talent. I have been teaching piano for one year, and it has been a wonderful experience. Not only do the students learn how to play piano, but it helps me get to know the students more closely.

I started learning piano at the age of seven. As I got older, I learned how to accompany. While at William Paterson, I took two semesters of Piano Pedagogy, and as a requirement, I needed to have a student to teach and play for the class. That's how I became interested in teaching piano, and we've had wonderful lessons together. From the first time I struck a key on a piano, I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. The emotions you get from happiness, to fulfillment, to a gained self-esteem; that is the gift of music that I give to my students.

Throughout high school, I was in orchestra, marching band, and choir, which I feel has helped broaden my musicality at a young age. I have been classically trained in piano for over 10 years, but also have a background in rock/pop/alternative styles. I have trained in voice for 4 years and primarily am familiar with pop/rock styles.

In my spare time, I plan musical benefit shows supporting charities such as "VH1 Save the Music Foundation" & "To Write Love on Her Arms." These two charities in particular helped me not only give back to the music world, but to helping others who have it hard. Besides an education, I also feel it's important for a teacher to be pure hearted.

Oleg is a violinist who represents the brilliant Russian violin school which is arguably one of the leading violin schools in the World during 20th century. In 1984 he was accepted to Moscow Conservatory of Music and in 1991 he graduated Conservatory with highest marks in violin and piano. In 1990 he was invited to participate in IV International Violin Competition 'Isola di Capri' (Capri Italy) and won 1st Prize of this competition playing N. Paganini's 4th Violin Concerto with cadenza which Oleg composed especially for this event. A native Korean, Soo Yeon is an active solo and chamber musician.

 Soo Yeon is an honor graduate of the Peabody Conservatory in 2003. During her years at Peabody, she was the winner of many auditions and given opportunities to perform at various venues at the institution and other venues in the Washington D.C region. In the year 2003, she won the Concerto Competition and performed Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3, celebrating the grand opening of the Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall. Upon her graduation with many scholarships and prizes, she was the fourth prize winner in the Missouri Southern International Piano Competition and first prize winner in the two-piano ensemble category in the New York Piano Competition. In 2009 she was named the 3rd prize winner of the Kingsville Young Performers Competition. Soo Yeon has a wide range of violin-piano repertoire and performs with numerous violinists in the states.

Born and raised in northern New Jersey, I have played the piano since age 8 and performed since age 12. My grandmother first inspired me to learn, as she would play for family gatherings - I envied her ability to captivate a room with such beautiful music. Throughout High school, I began developing my voice as a pianist and composer. I participated in the Terra Magica music festival in Croatia, working with several internationally renowned teachers, who influenced me to pursue a career in music. I studied piano with Aaron Wunsch at William Paterson University (a graduate and current teacher at the Juilliard School), composition with John Link (a graduate of the City University of New York), and music analysis and ear training with Jeffrey Kresky (graduate of Colombia and Princeton music schools). I am a graduate of Montclair State University with a Bachelors degree in music education and a minor in sociology. I have also received an Associate’s degree in music from Brookdale Community College and have been playing the French Horn since I was 10-years-old and the piano since I was 14-years-old. I have also played a variety of other instruments including the trumpet, trombone and clarinet.

I have performed with the NJ Conservatory in Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony and 9th Symphony. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to a music-loving family, I began playing piano and guitar at a very young age. At age twelve, I began playing double bass, which has become my primary instrument. Throughout middle and high school, I received numerous awards for excellence in both jazz and classical music. I am a classical singer and pianist from Wisconsin! I started playing music at the age of three on the piano and began voice lessons at 15. While in graduate school in Las Vegas, I started teaching both voice and piano lessons and found how much I loved imparting my knowledge to others and watching them make progress.

I have performed leading roles in Operas and soloed in orchestral concerts and recitals. I mainly perform opera/classical but love musical theatre as well. My performing experience has taught me a lot which I am eager to pass on to my students! I have been teaching with Takelessons since my move to NYC in 2011.
