While most 5 year olds were singing along to silly songs, I was entranced by the tribal drumming in the Michael Jackson's "Will you be there". When most Junior High student were listening to, well, whatever made them "cool", I was thinking of what John Lennon meant in his lyrics for "Strawberry Fields Forever." I have always had a deep passion for music that goes beyond the surface. I connect with the very soul of music.
Writing my first song at the age of 7, the creative fire began to use music to express what no other form of communication could. Struggling with the limitations of my vocal abilities at the age of 16, I decided to intensify my study of the voice, taking hundreds of private lessons in such techniques as Bel Canto Vocal Technique, Speech Level Singing(TM), Progressive Vocal Techniques(TM), and others, as well as reading dozens of books and hundreds of research articles on the mechanisms of the voice. While attending (and eventually graduating from) San Diego State University with a B.A in Music, I played hundreds of live shows, most of them coming from a residency in the heart of the historic Gaslamp District of San Diego, honing my skills as a vocalist, pianist, and guitarist. On the other side of the sound board, as an engineer, I have had the opportunity to work with such greats as Jefferson Starship, Hiromi Uehara, Dave Mason among others at one of San Diego's premier live venue "Anthology."
Since starting my love for composition at 7, I continues to write and record, not only singing, but playing guitar, bass guitar, piano/keys, drums, mandolin, and harmonica, as well as producing and engineering, and mixing the session himself. I am an actively gigging musician on Vocals, Piano, Guitar and Bass.

For seven years now, Samantha has combined her love of music with her passion of cultivating an understanding and affinity to music in others by maintaining a private voice and piano studio for all ages and levels. As a performer herself, Samantha understands what it is like to be a student. Therefore, she makes it a goal to create a warm and nurturing environment while simultaneously challenging and daring her students to reach beyond what they think is possible.
A current voice student wrote this about Samantha:
"I love taking lessons with Samantha! She really has a lot of patience and works well with my voice. She doesn't give up on helping me reach notes, and makes me realize that I can do more with my voice than I would expect. She has developed my voice in the best way possible. I look forward to every lesson with her!"
In addition to teaching, Samantha maintains an active performance schedule as an opera singer. Described as being “silver-voiced,” soprano Samantha G. recently relocated to Los Angeles, where she is on the roster for LA Opera’s Education and Community Programs, and a regular soloist with Opera on Tap – Los Angeles. Her role as Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro) marked her professional debut at the Stocker Arts Center in Lorain, Ohio in 2006. Most recently, Samantha had the unique opportunity to create the role of Clio the Singer in the world premiere of Charles L. Mee’s Orestes 3.0: Inferno with City Garage Theatre in Santa Monica, CA.
Samantha completed her Bachelor of Music Degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music and her Master of Music Degree from Temple University. In April, she will be performing Anne (A Little Night Music) with Independent Opera Company in Los Angeles. In June, she will be performing in the inaugural performance of Vineyard Touring Opera’s new Script to Score series in South Pasadena, Claremont, and Santa Monica. In this unique performance project, Samantha will portray the role of Blanche in scenes from Victor Hugo’s Le roi s’amuse followed by the corresponding scenes from Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto in which she will be singing Gilda.

Piano, singing, and songwriting began for me when I discovered really awesome piano music such as with bands like Queen, Yes, and ELP. After high school, I studied classical music composition at Wheaton College's Conservatory of Music receiving my Bachelors in Music Composition with a focus in piano. My professional experience includes singing on film/tv productions such as High School Musical, Hairspray, and Struck By Lightning. I compose and orchestrate for theater (Glendale Center Theater, Vanguard University Theater Department), film/tv, orchestra (L.A. Jewish Symphony, TCOTW, BIOLA University) and album projects (Anna Nalick, Oodle's World Productions).
Singing credits include High School Musical 1, Hairspray The Movie, High School Musical 3, Chris Kolfer's new movie Struck by Lightning, Atlanta Aquarium Dolphin Show recording, Boston Public, Who Wants to Be A Millionaire ad (New Wave Ent.), and The Drew Carey Show. I'm also a professional piano player for American Idol finalist Stevie Scott, various other bands, Mastro's restaurants, and local churches.
Currently producing my second children's music album for Oodles World, Inc.
I love to share musical knowledge. I really enjoying teaching.

I started playing music at age 9, when my mom decided to put me in piano lessons. Much to her surprise, I fell in love with the instrument and played non-stop, sometimes skipping dinner to read through a new piece or practice for an up coming competition. After winning a few state wide competitions, I enrolled in an arts high school to practice my craft, and be around other creative high school students.
While in High School, I started writing music and singing in a 16 member chamber choir. The summer before my senior year, I won the prestigious Berklee songwriting competition and was awarded a scholarship to the school, which I decided to decline to make my way towards the music mecca of Los Angeles.
I received a Bachelor's degree from CalArts where I focused on contemporary piano/voice and composition.
Since graduating in 2010, I've released an EP entitled 'Living in Layers'. I sing and play piano in a number of bands including cover bands and original projects, mostly in the pop/rock/soul veins. Some of my collaborators include Akon and Andy Samberg (for an SNL short), Ben Lee (platinum selling Australian recording artist), Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons), and the Swingle Singers (Acclaimed British A Capella group).
I have love in my heart for both classical and popular music, and I think my combination of the 2 will make for a very well-rounded lesson experience. I would say that my biggest strength as a musician is that I'm well rounded, and can work with just about anyone in any style. I can help you understand the styles that excite you, but also open your eyes to other new and exciting things. I would say that I specialize in writing, and work very well with students interested in composition and songwriting.

Originally from Wisconsin, I was a music student at UW LaCrosse before coming to LA to attend Musician's Institute in Hollywood,(GIT) where I graduated with honors and was awarded a USA Custom Ibanez guitar. I remained in LA working in numerous bands spanning a wide variety of musical styles including blues, rock, country, surf, and even Persian music! With "The California Girls", an all female surf band, I opened for "The Beach Boys" , "The Safaris", "Jan and Dean", "Steppin Wolf"; toured the US playing theaters, fairs, casinos; and played overseas for the troops in Bosnia, Kosovo, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Iraq, Afghanistan, Norway, Germany, the Pacific Islands, and Diego Garcia. Most recently I was a member of the Greg London band, an impressionist with whom I performed in Leicester Square in the West End of London, at Harrah's Reno and the Las Vegas Hilton for extended runs. I fill in with "ThundHerStruck", an all female AC/DC tribute band and recently did a tour to Afghanistan with them. I also have a band called "Sierra Highway" that performs in the Antelope Valley.
I have studied vocal technique extensively with Robert Edwards, renown vocal coach to the stars (Christina Aguilera, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow ) and learned to teach his method which is similar to the famous "Seth Riggs" method. I have played piano since early childhood.
I look forward to helping you achieve your musical goals and tailoring your lessons specifically to your needs!
