I studied Stanislavski's late method of acting in my undergraduate. Everything in my method is action based and involves making specific decisions and making sure you're actually doing what you intend to do.
I have a bachelor's degree in music from University of Miami with a minor in acting and have just finished my Master's degree in vocal performance from Texas Tech University. At Texas Tech I held my own private studio for two years. During that time I taught students of all levels in various styles ranging from classical to music theater, to rock and pop. I have helped students of advanced levels and also students who thought that they were tone deaf. I enjoy working with and getting to know all of my students. Teaching really is a great pleasure for me.
“It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” We, as theatre artists, have heard this time and time again in acting classes, from casting directors, and from family and friends. I believe that the “who” may get an actor in front of certain people; however, it is the “what” that will keep them working. As an instructor, I encourage my students to keep networking while they delve into the nuts and bolts of their craft.
As theatre artists, we must have a working knowledge of many different aspects of the world: business, finance, arts, humanities, science, politics, and history. This knowledge will allow the artist to fuse his/her personal or imaginative experiences with the world of the play. I help develop this in artists through practical script analysis for the actor, the four C’s (concentration, contact, connection, communication), awakening the imagination, personalization (sensory details and subtext), action/objective, and characterization/transformation. ...

My most important goal is to prepare students with the tools to approach text by themselves. We will discuss character development and create a history for the character utilizing the clues provided in the script. We discuss the basics of many different acting techniques and the student will leave with a useful vocabulary to bring to the work. Due to my location, I can grant students access to a vast library of theatrical text. This class will require a lot of reading, and memorizing.
Live truthfully in imaginary circumstances
Hi! My name is Becca. I'm an internationally recognized poet, actor, and teacher. Teaching is a huge passion of mine and I can't wait to meet all of you beautiful people. I have been a private acting and poetry coach for 3 years, and I have been teaching a High School Spoken Word Class since early 2012. I am a current student of the University of the Arts, which means I am in constant contact with professional actors and poets, providing countless opportunities for artists. I am passionate, quirky, and youthful. Be prepared to be challenged in new ways by a teacher who specifically works for the needs of her students. My priority is to show artists why they started loving creating things in the first place. Be prepared to be inspired.
