For 9 years, I've been opening doors for my students, whether they're just starting out on their path, picking up a hobby, studying for school or trying to improve their playing in their band!
Everyone has a unique compass for understanding and performing music, and I create an individualized curriculum that brings together ear training, technique, music writing, improvisation, historical knowledge and personalized practice material to help you be the drummer you've always wanted to be!
To teach is my highest honor. No matter what your age and background, everyone speaks a musical language that is at once personal and universal.
We'll have fun learning about the rich history of drumming from recordings, building on techniques like musical memory, sight-reading, improvisation and composition and have fun playing together! I have my undergrad degree in Music from Michigan State University. I've played drums since I was 7 years old and have played with BB King and Bo Diddley, was a ember of jazz quartets and quintets in college, and played in an alternative rock band all through college. I also played in the Blues scene in Chicago for 8 years. My career switched to photography in 1999 and I've run a successful photography business both in Chicago and now in New Orleans. I have a book out called "Fearless Photographer: Travel" (you can find it on Amazon). I shoot Adventure Travel images, live music, portraits, and weddings/events.
