Anne received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with a Vocal Emphasis from Oakland University in Rochester, MI in 2008. She has taught privately since 2006.
Anne uses her experience with performing solos and singing in a variety of ensembles and well as her knowledge of vocal technique, music theory, music history, ear training and piano to best aid her students in improving their voices or beginning their piano studies. She also uses her experience as a voice coach and her understanding of learning theories, specifically Constructivism, to best teach each individual.
Anne has trained under some of the most prominent names in the metro-Detroit area, many of whom have performed around the world in opera and musical theatre productions. Anne has also performed in ...
Are you or your child just itching to express yourself on a keyboard? So was I, for as long as I can remember.
We record you all the time in a recording studio environment. Listening back to your performance is a powerful tool.
Most music lessons are just too full of un-intuitive systems and teach reading before you can play a note. What a turn-off! We make sure to play first and we always have great fun. And we get to all the ear training and theory as well.
Almost every lesson we record your original music or you playing on top of tracks that I create just for you. I send you an MP3 along with an email of your lesson notes.
Oh and yes, my method makes good use of technology but is rooted in a solid and massive classical education including Dalcroze, Kodaly, Orff and more.
An integrated approach:
Music almost always involves several skills. Below are some of the complementary skills that I can help you with.
In my Semper Method, we always address ...

Playing by Ear
Pretty much everyone can play by ear. So I help you to explore your talent, reach your musical goals and to create and perform music as a real and beautiful part of your life. Making music should not be a boring job. Rather, it should be something you can't wait to do. A way to get in touch with the rest of the universe. You will also learn to read and write, but it won't get in the way of your music.
Your music. Instantly.
We use recording as a powerful tool to help you listen and improve.
Tired of crappy tabs? Struggling to capture your song? No worries.

I began playing piano at 18 years old as a music major at Macomb Community College. I think I was the only one who was thrilled to be playing piano. I quickly advanced through the 3 group classes and then private lessons. I love teaching piano to students of all levels and all ages.
I teach all levels of piano. I currently use the Alfred books for the first 3 levels of books and then we move to the Snell piano repertoire books for the following levels. I also have many fun solo books for students.
I love teaching, simply love teaching! I teach students of all ages. I teach piano, voice, clarinet, and saxophone. I have taught for over 25 years. My students have lots of opportunities for performance, if they choose to. We perform at Nursing Homes, Retirements, Festival of Trees, and Seasonal Recitals. There are at least 2 recitals a year, 1 at Christmas and 1 in the Spring, if enough participation, we often have one in summer with a party afterward. We also participate in the Michigan Music Association competition. I have also had students perform in Disney World in Florida!!! I have been in many musicals such as Annie, Gypsy, Rock Around the Clock. I have put on solo recitals. I am a member of my church choir. My students and I have fun while we are learning music! It ...
With my Bachelor's/Master's Degree and 13 years of experience in education, it will be an honor for me to add more to students.

Music study helps people young and old to overcome shyness and build confidence. It empowers them as they refine their special talents.
We will study ear training .
My Method: Listen, Sing, Clap, Play, Read and Write. With these tools you can look deeper into the elements that make up music.
Children don't learn to read before they can talk. So why should anyone have to try to read before they can play?
That is how music is taught, traditionally and why a huge percentage of students just quit or have a miserable time with piano lessons. Music should be fun. Period.
We will always have a lot of fun, ...
Helping students to play by ear and to be able to read basic chord charts and beginning and intermediate piano methods along with theory and technique exercises. Special areas include Pop, Rock Jazz and Worship music.
I have been teaching guitar and piano for many years in the Metro Detroit area. I have played professionally in many local nightclub and wedding bands as well as having toured with Bob Seger as his lead guitarist/writer/vocalist. I also have done some recording sessions with Motown. I take great pleasure in mentoring, training and equipping students with the necessary skills to achieve at the personal and/or professional level according to the students interest and desire. I tailor my teaching methods according to the students ability and musical preference and can teach anything from classic rock to pop, classical, oldies, jazz, etc. Many of my students have gone on to play at the professional level and one, in particular, has become a music professor at Berklee School of Music. In ...
My goal is to have my students prepared for what ever level they wish to go with their music. Some want to play for enjoyment only and others wish to take piano/music in college.
I have been teaching for over 30 years. I love to teach students of all ages. My education is classical in nature and this is how I approach my lessons, but I also mix in current music that is of interest to each particular student. I have also been a church musician for over 40 years. I studied with the Dr. Perkins, Head of the Music Department at University of Montana, Billings. I have also studied with Dr. Peggy Daugherty, a concert level pianist.

"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
