Subjects Taught

Bass Guitar, Bassoon, Clarinet, Guitar, Saxophone

About Me

Hi my names Joel, I have been playing musical instruments since I was in the 6th grade. I'm coming up on my 11th year of playing. I started off with Clarinet, and I'm now in the Metal scene going around and gigging with some of the most talented musicians in the scene. I've played multiple festivals and hundreds of shows, but don't let my enthusiasm for guitar discourage you from taking lessons with me for other instruments! I'm classically trained in over 10 different instruments; Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Tenor Sax, Upright Bass, Electric Bass, Jazz Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Classical Guitar, and of course Electric Guitar; And any and all variations of those instruments; For example All types of Clarinets and all types of saxophones.

My education in music started in 6th grade on clarinet. When I got to high school I started taking a bunch of music classes. I was taking Marching band/concert band, Jazz band, and Orchestra all throughout my high school years, where our school was a consistent top competitor and finalist throughout the state of California.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have a very old school approach to teaching music. I believe that any student can become a master in their instrument of choice as long as they take the time to master the Basics. I'm a very laid back teacher, and I'm very easy to approach and talk to. I try to build my lessons around your personal likes/dislikes. I take the time to learn material for each individual student, that way students get a feeling of importance, and don't end up feeling like they are just taking text book lessons from an impersonal teacher.

*** Specialties ***
I play everything from Classical piano/guitar, to jazz bass, to Djent Death metal. I literally play everything, and i love all types of music. I do how ever specialize in rock and roll, punk, and metal.

Cory B. Riverside, CA

Subjects Taught

Bassoon, Clarinet, Flute, Music Performance, Music Theory, Oboe, Piano

About Me

I am a classically trained performer with a Master's degree from London's Royal College of Music. I love finding each student's own learning style to tailor the experience, and I encourage my students to make their own decisions about musical expression (with plenty of guidance, of course!).

In my work as a performer I have played with orchestras all over the world, from the South London Sinfonia to the Bombay Chamber Orchestra. My musical life is full of variety, and I think that the experiences I've had as a musician make me a creative and thoughtful teacher.

*** Lesson Details ***
I wouldn't call myself strict, but I do have high standards. I expect my students to put in the work at home, so that we can get the most out of lesson time. We will learn simple tunes in the very first lesson, and I will always balance technical exercises with fun. (Though I do think a lot of exercises are fun too!) After a few months we will have a solid foundation of music theory and will have developed your music reading abilities considerably. We will have worked on a great technical foundation of scales and exercises, so that your fingers won't fail you. We will also be delving in to longer and more complex tunes, and considering the possibility of some form of casual public or in-home performance, for you to show your family and friends what you've learned!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Baby grand piano,
Music stands,
Metronome,
Tuner

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect students to have their own instruments and music.

*** Specialties ***

My passion is educating the musicians of tomorrow and helping them discover their innate musical abilities and desires.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are very student driven and revolve around developing students innate music abilities to help them connect and experience success as well as enriching their lives with music. In my lessons students will develop music appreciation skills by listening to music, understanding basic music theory concepts, growing a knowledge of historical awareness in music all alongside learning the instrument of their chosen preference. The pace set for the sessions is rather relaxed and is highly dependent on the student but, students are guided throughout the sessions to eventually achieve their goals. My main teaching approach is: Let me use my skills and knowledge to help figure out what works best for you!
