I have just graduated from the Longy School of Music of Bard College with a Master's in Vocal Performance. I have privately taught both voice and piano for over six years, and I continue to maintain active studios in both New York and Massachusetts, with my current students ranging from ages six through 21. As a pianist, I accompany several school concerts, solo/ensemble festivals, and musical productions each year. I have also taught after-school group music classes with a New York theatre company. Lessons with me are lively, positive and student-centered,rather than "me teaching you", the process is collaborative. Building a student's self-awareness is paramount. Over time, the student's vocabulary of relating to her singing or playing-Â physiologically, intellectually, and ...
I studied piano under the tutelage of pianist Nazan Akin as part of my opera/voice training at The Istanbul University State Conservatory. I taught piano at The Quincy Point Music Academy and A Street Music in Quincy, Massachusetts. I am a member of Faber Piano Teaching Adventures Club, and teach using the comprehensive Faber Piano Adventures, wonderful for all children and adults, taking a beginner all the way to the early advanced level. I maintain studios in Somerville and Quincy.
The main piano method I use is Faber Piano Adventures. My technical and teaching approach has largely been influenced by artists such as Nazan Akin, Eunyoung Kim (my longtime concert collaborator), Idil Biret, Marc-Andre Hamelin, Yuja Wang, Bill Evans and Chick Corea, combined with my own experiences as a pianist and drummer (as piano is a percussion instrument).
Described by The Times Herald-Record, New York, as a "firm bass- baritone", and by The Boston Musical Intelligencer as "outstanding dramatically and musically", I am a classical singer with international credits, at home in diverse genres from opera to art song, Broadway to The American Songbook, spirituals to jazz and pop. I am also a professional drummer, pianist and instructor. I enjoy teaching, and view it as making music together in a class setting. Lessons are both disciplined and fun. Recent highlights include the roles of The Master and Yefim in the U.S.-premiere of the opera "Desire to Sleep" by Moshe Shulman; the narrator in the world-premiere of "Experience" in English by Phivos-Angelos Kollias; world-premieres of "Missa Patri Pio" and "Canzoni Dantesche" by Leonardo ...

As a soloist, I am a frequent performer throughout the Northeast. This season's performances include engagements with Lowell House Opera, Opera Brittenica, Cantata Singers, Opera Providence, and concerts and TV appearances with the award-winning folk music group Voice of the Turtle, as well as numerous recitals. I teach general piano lessons since 2010.With every new student our mutual journey into the world of music begins from the very basic stage; we begin with discussing student's proper sitting position at the instrument, basic introduction sessions on the general buildup of the instrument, its keyboard layout, and proceed, gradually, to the notation symbols on the music staff introduction to the student. Through the diligent preliminary talk we will discuss various aspects of interest that my students have developed in relation to playing piano, so we could plan and design our future lessons according to an initial discussion. My job and responsibility will be to make an intelligent assessment of my students' natural abilities for the given subject of study, to create vigorous learning atmosphere during our meetings, and to give my students professional instructions to the best of my humble abilities, for the benefits of their musical , aesthetic, and personal development. I will ...
Hello, I am Vasiliy M, Boston University School of Music Alumnus (DMA in Composition). We dwell in Boston since Fall 2002; before that time , we lived in New York, where I studied Composition at Mannes College, The New School For Music. I received both BM, and MM degrees from Mannes in 1999, and 2001, respectively. Before an arrival to US, in 1994, I studied Jazz Performance, Electric Bass Major, and Classical Composition, at Moldova State Conservatory, from 1988 to 1993, respectively. I was raised in the family, where music is an essential part of its daily life; my father, Grigoriy, before his retirement, was a military band trombone player, and, quite naturally, I was exposed to music, and encouraged by my parents to learn playing an instrument of my choice, from my ...
