I love learning, and I love sharing how to learn. I began as a self-taught pianist at age 12, and from ages 14 to the present I have had the experience of studying with some of the most phenomenal teachers of this generation. George Katz, former chair of the Drake University Piano Department and student of the legendary artists Alfred Cortot and Marguerite Long; Jerome Lowenthal, also a student of Cortot (and William Kapell) and former chair of the Julliard piano department, and Jose Feghali, winner of the 1985 Cliburn Gold Medal have been my most influential teachers. From them, I learned how to learn, how to teach, and how to teach learning, which I believe is the most important skill.

As a winner of the 2000 Interlochen Concerto Competition, I had my orchestral debut that year with the World Youth Symphony Orchestra at 16. Following that, I have given concerts all over the U.S., some parts of Mexico, Malmo and Stockholm, Sweden, and in Copenhagen, Denmark.

After more than 15 years of performing experience, Edward most recently released his first album, "Canzone," which features some of his favorite Italian love songs. Previously, he was selected to attend the exclusive 2007 Casalmaggiore International Music Festival in Italy. In 2005, he created the role of Chang Chung in the world premier of "Genghis Khan" in Austin, Texas. His performance garnered rave reviews, and is available on CD through Salvage Vanguard Theater archives. In 2004, Edward was a Finalist in the "Young Artist Vocal Competition of El Paso, and he also received first place in the Houston NATS Adult Division.

I have been in deep studies for the past 5 years in my guitar. Its wonders have brought me immense joy and serenity. I want each and every student to discover the magic that music creates in our lives and others around us. Along with the disciplinary aspects of practice, learning an instrument such as the guitar can open imaginary doors like no other instrument. The musical possibilities are endless.

I started teaching 25 years ago, and have attended and completed several summer singing schools where I studied vocal technique, the breathing system, resonance, sight reading, pitch recognition and how to develop interpretive skills. I also studied the physics of sound as it pertains to the human voice.

I work most of the time with individuals, but have also worked with small groups such as trios and quartets as well as choirs and choruses.

I am a Doctoral student at the University of North Texas with 3 years of experience teaching college level students as a Teaching Fellow in Voice at UNT. I currently work with HEB ISD and BISD teaching private lessons to Junior High age students. I enjoy working with a variety of age groups, styles and skill levels. I have extensive experience as a recitalist, church solist and as an opera singer and I specialize in classical voice. I am a member of both the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA).

I have been studying music in many forms for most of my life! I started taking piano lessons at the age of 8 and voice lessons at the age of 15. I attended Southeastern Louisiana University where I earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Perfomance in the studio of Scharmal Schrock. On the SLU stage I perfomed in serveral operas and musicals, including The Music Man (Marian), The Sound of Music (Maria), A Little Night Music (Charlotte) and Dido and Aeneas (Second Woman). With my classical training, I am able to adapt to many styles that interest me- including musical theatre, jazz, and pop.

After graduation I moved to New York City where I spent over 6 years working with various acting/singing coaches and studying with acclaimed voice teacher Judy Hages. I performed 2 off broadway cabarets at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre. I also performed in Pittsburgh's Flash Opera production of Dido and Aeneas (Second Woman/First Witch).

I read, write, and play all styles and I focus on teaching the student fundamentals that work in all styles of music ....AND I get them going on the style they are interested in - pop, rock, country, folk, etc.

I have spent my entire life in the music industry and I can show you how to use what I teach to apply to the real world. I have also been a successful songwriter and I can work with students to learn about song structure and song writing.

I am also good at preparing students for college music classes.

I have a diverse, mixed-up, wonderful background. I have wanted to do something with music and performance since I was 3-years-old. I have been able to foster that goal through work in the professional film and television industry as well as professional theatre (and no, the word is not misspelled despite what spell-check would have you believe and I would love to explain why.). However, my greatest love has always been teaching. My education includes training in theatre, film, television, music, voice, and communication. I received my BA in Fine Arts and Humanities from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and my MS in Communication Studies at Texas Christian University. I am a member of the Music Teacher's National Association and constantly strive to improve both my abilities and myself. My greatest teachers, however, have always been my students!
