Elizabeth has taught violin and viola for twenty years. She has a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from DePaul University School of Music. Her teachers have been among the best in the world. She has been a member of orchestras, chamber music ensembles, and has performed solos throughout the United States and abroad. Teaching is one of her greatest passions, and she welcomes the opportunity to work with all ages and levels of musical background.

My name is Douglas and I am a classically trained operatic baritone. I received my Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory, and my Master of Music from the University of Illinois. I have performed all over the world, including venues in Italy and Austria. I have studied and sung for operatic greats such as Nathan Gunn, Marilyn Horne, and Cynthia Haymon.

I have been teaching out of a private studio for the past four years, including a studio of 25 students a year ago. I am very passionate about teaching and instilling all that I've learned in my professional career. I am very demanding as a teacher, but I also create a fun atmosphere so that my students can feel comfortable and at ease.

While my background is in classical music, I love teaching musical theater and have plenty of experience in that genre as well.

I recently graduated with a BFA in Acting from the theatre program at Syracuse University (SU). During my time there, I studied at the Globe Theatre in London, in addition to spending a semester taking classes with Broadway and TV/Film Casting agents in New York City. I've done a few musicals in regional theaters in New York. And currently, I am a working actor in and around the city of Chicago. I have experience music directing, directing, choreographing, and teaching acting and voice throughout the year/summer for an elementary/middle school theatre program called Bravo Performing Arts Academy in Oak Park, IL. In the fall/winter, I music direct and teach private voice lessons for an adult a cappella group in Chicago. I studied voice, music theory, piano, acting, and dance within the SU theatre program and have been teaching for over 6 years. In addition, I taught music and theatre to special needs adults for all four years of college.

Justin is a teaching artist with Chicago Opera Theater's Opera for All program, where he teaches opera to elementary school students around Chicago. He is also a curricular tutor with the AVID program at Lake View High School, and a section leader/soloist with Community Christian Church and Temple Chai. Previously, Justin was thrilled to spend the past season working with Child's Play Touring Theatre. As their Music Director, Justin traveled the country presenting plays and musicals based on the original writings of children. He helped shepherd their newest show, Global Energy, the Musical! as Musical Supervisor, and starred in its premier production. He also co-wrote their Great Green Adventures of R-Man with Christian Vernon. I am focused on creating a comfortable music-making environment so that my students can explore their potential at a pace that matches their goals. I push when I can tell my student is ready for it, and hold off when I can tell he or she needs a little bit of time to process. I love working with beginners as much as more advanced students. My goal is simply to help each person grow from his or her starting point.

To give you a bit of an understanding about my background, I received a dual Honors BA in Music/French and International Studies from St. Louis University in 2002. In 2006, I completed my Masters of Music in Vocal Performance at Washington University in St. Louis where my studies included vocal pedagogy and four semesters of a singing actor’s workshop. I began teaching all ages immediately after completion of my Masters degree, and performed locally and regionally. Serena is originally from the New York City area and has been acting, singing, dancing, and playing piano since she was young. As a teenager, she attended the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan and went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. While she was there, she realized her love of teaching when she tutored struggling piano and music theory students.

In Chicago, her credits include: Macbeth, Jersey Shore: The Musical, Jack and the Beanstalk, Theatre of Women 6, Pirates of Penzance, Change the Night Owl, and her own solo cabaret "Should I Be Sweet?"

Howdy! I've been playing a stringed-instrument of one sort-or-another since the wee age of 6 and in a variety of contexts, from full orchestras to rock bands to world-class recording studios. I've composed original music for theatrical productions and mastered classical pieces for solo violin performance. I learned my instruments through a combination of private instruction, self-education, and years of real-world experience.

My first instrument was violin, which I started playing in fourth grade; I started private violin lessons in sixth, and continued with the same teacher until I was 20. At age 16 I started playing guitar and electric bass, and shortly thereafter picked up mandolin, ukulele. . . basically whatever stringed instrument was needed in whatever band or ensemble I happened to be playing with at the time. I've found I have an affinity for quickly learning any stringed instrument, a skill for which I owe credit to my years of private instruction on violin.

I am a Columbia University Chicago graduate; I graduated with a degree in Music with a concentration in Classical Voice. I have performed in numerous of operas and musicals, as well as, sung on Gospel Cruises all around the world.
