About Me

I completed musical studies at the Conservatory of Music of San Juan, Puerto Rico and graduated MAGNA CUM LAUDE, with Majors in Musical Education and as a Performing Artist.
I am a qualified bilingual Music Instructor.
I have performed as a guitarist with several orchestras, musical groups, bands and as classical guitar soloist I have given numerous recitals and concerts.
I have worked as a Music Educator at the Social & Pedagogic Academic Institutes teaching pedagogic & didactic principles to teachers and at the same time I have been teaching classical and popular guitar at all levels and ages at several other music schools.
I wrote a guitar method ‚¬Ä¬úMELODIC GUITAR‚¬Ä¬Ě for beginners from 7 years of age and up, and this method has been translated from Papiamentu into the English and Spanish languages.
Although my music background is classical, I play and teach popular music, which I love.
Just to mention a few guitarists who appeal to me: Carlos Santana, George Benson, Paco de Lucia, Julian Bream.
I also teach electrical and acoustic guitar, bass-guitar, piano/keyboard, ukulele, Venezuelan & PR cuatro, songwriting and music theory.
Music is an International language; a way to express inner feelings!
And Teaching it, is my passion!

About Me

I have been playing guitar for about 15 years now and I have been a private instructor for about 8 years. I graduated from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and studied under Don Casper.

ATTENTION: For any of you looking to get accepted into the Lavilla middle school or DASOTA high school programs here in Jacksonville, I can help you get prepared for what is expected of you. I have held auditions for Mr. Casper at Lavilla and I took his guitar courses all 4 years of high school. So I know his program very well!

During my years at DA I played in various bands ranging from classical guitar ensembles to big band jazz ensembles; performed in several musicals such as Cabaret, and Hair; and I was a member of the Florida All-State Big Band.

I went on to graduate college from the Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio for Jazz studies under the instruction of Bobby Ferrazza. I continued to expand my musical palette and had the opportunity to tour abroad in Arezzo, Italy, both performing and giving masterclasses.

I now reside in Jacksonville, my hometown, and currently teach guitar and music theory privately and after school community music education classes at Lavilla School of the Arts.

You might be able to catch me playing jazz at venues around town or with one of my prized projects, a group entitled "Tala", a trio of 2 guitars and percussion playing all original music. If you're considering lessons with me, you're welcome to come see me perform and talk to me about lessons.

Thank you!
